I believe dinner shall be a beef roast with mashed 'taters, though I'm also thinking of making Indian Fry Bread. Nef kicked some serious ass while I was gone. It was a complete surprise! We'll eventually update the appliances, but this makes such a huge difference. He painted the walls, replaced some backsplash and added a lot, painted the cabinets and got new hardware for them, replaced the sink and faucet, replaced the counters and added some cute decor. :) He's in there now switching out the ceiling fan to a white one :) Quoting: Simple27 https://imgur.com/6JN9tZp https://imgur.com/sQXuVrE https://imgur.com/3H8XaGr ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

That was a long time ago, but one thing I do remember is that all the best cooks mixed it with their hands and didn't even measure! It actually has a long sad history, and is believed to be one of the more detrimental things we have done to the Native Americans. The bread arose from figuring out what to do with government rations and since the introduction of processed white flour and (rancid) vegetable oils, many metabolic diseases have skyrocketed including diabetes. When my kids were little, I would the frozen bread dough & let it thaw. We would cut in into balls, fry it, & then roll it into sugar. I think we even used pop on the counter biscuits in a pinch although they weren't as good as the bread dough. I always get funnel cake every year when they have a festival. I tried making them at home once with Baby from a recipe I found online. They were good, but messy to make! [link to news.azpm.org (secure)] Thank you for the history lesson, yes that is sad. We're both achy and tired today, fry bread would be easy to make. I have both all-purpose white flour as well as masa flour. If I become sufficiently motivated to do something today I could make taco beef, a veggie side dish, and the fry bread. The thought of figuring out the ratio of masa to all purpose flour is making my head hurt. It sucks feeling blech on a sunny day and being both without beer or the desire to deal with the world to rectify the situation by going out to buy some.
