Re: Food with Attitude!
Mr wanted Publix fried chicken tonight. Baby wanted breadsticks so I used pre-made pizza dough with olive oil, garlic & parmesan. Mr had potato salad & i made her a can of green beans I didn't want anything else.

That looks good.

I thought I would make steak Caesar salad, but the beef turned out more like stew beef so I put it in a container to die an unnoticed death in the refrigerator.

Now nothing I can think of sounds appetizing, so likely no dinner.

A hamburger, pizza, or crispy chicken would be awesome about now, but the cats do not know how to cook for me so I will go unfed tonight.

I'm sorry Louis...I wish that I could make you something and bring it over....I only "cook" for me so it would be nice to make something for someone else...my hubs only has liquid diet, as I've mentioned before...

My diet is liquid tonight, but not the same type.

Bastetcat, that looks like an amazing sandwich!
I just got home from yet another long day. I really wanted waffles..and the Trader Joe's belgian toaster waffles are amazing. But I am literally too tired to make anything. I am having a lemon yogurt and water.

But soon I will have waffles. Who knows, maybe this will just be an appetizer, but I am thinking I will just go to bed.

Good to see everyone and hoping for a fun weekend for y'all.
We had a beautiful sunset (this is the view from my chicken's coop) and I am feeling sorry for myself because I am working a full day tomorrow as well.

waffles and caesar salad? yep. that was my dinner out at a restaurant, the cook made garlic waffles, diced them into the squares and mixed them in the caesar salad. interestingly, topped the dome shaped salad with so much shredded parm, it looked like a snow cone.

I ate half and for dinner sauteed salmon with a bootleg tomato gravy on top, ie morels, diced red onion, rice flour, marsala, yogurt, tarragon, parsley seed pods, tomato paste.

I so feel for you working a full day tomorrow; I'm so glad I have a boss at work that just leaves me alone to manage my own schedule and tasks.

I was about to write that you may have inspired me to make chicken and waffles for breakfast, however pool's post has me thinking that perhaps I need to prepare a grand dinner...

Everything has been looking sooo good on this thread...

Wanted to share my dinner/lunch from yesterday--I call it "linner" like breakfast/lunch = brunch, lol.

I went to Publix and while waiting at the deli counter I noticed the sticker on the glass that specifies thickness of the cuts of meats...so I told the guy to give me the dinner cut of the boar's head London Broil roast beef..got just over a half pound--it was a splurge but worth it! Like a prime rib...

The Peter Luger steak sauce is originally from a restaurant in NYC known for their steaks, etc. It has to be kept cold and Publix usually stocks it right in the fresh meat section. It used to be hubby's favorite, along with the "buffalo" ie fresh mozzarella...

https://imgur.com/a/vTRki6P

ETA there are two photos--the second one shows the thickness of the roast beef...
I warmed it up enough just slightly melt the cheese...I'm a big fan of the Hawaiian bread too... a few of the low salt chips for some crunch, lol...

I originally was planning to get Lebanon Bologna at the deli--going to make a sandwich out of it tonight--Lebanon Bologna if you haven't had it is like a summer sausage kind of like Hickory Farms, but it's the size of a regular slice of bologna...years and years ago I went to PA and took a tour of a place where they made it with the smokehouses and everything...so yummy...

And not to start up the mayonnaise debate on this thread, but I picked up a small bottle of boar's head mayonnaise and my goodness it is good! Not going to say it's better than any other brand, lol, because I'm not a connoisseur of mayonnaise...
 Quoting: Bastetcat

I'm glad you were be able to splurge on your sandwich meat. It's nice to do that once in a while.

I've never been a fan of thick lunch meat. I get my roast beef sliced thin. I think it tastes better when think it and you make layers.

Raw, they're okay, but only if I nibble the outside off first then eat the 'core' last.

Funny thing, I was reading tass and ran across a thing called the 'Borscht Set'. It seems that the Russians and Ukrainians measure food inflation using the borscht set. And it seems like the costs of the set (image above less ribs for the bone broth) have dropped too low making them uneconomical for people to farm.
While here they measure inflation using some pretty stupid parameters (tv prices etc.), using a soup that you could arguably live on for a very long time seems to make more sense. Plus there is no room for 'shrinkflation' since none of the items is worth prepackaging. Might be wise in the upcoming days to master a borscht recipe! Cheerio!

That looks amazing, and I, not yet having eaten since Breakfast BLT Friday, may eventually need to cook something today.

Now I'm thinking two burgers, General Tso's chicken over fried jasmine rice, crispy chicken sided by hash brown potatoes, or ho made beef, potato, tomato and assorted veggie soup with saltine crackers.

Decisions decisions.

imgur has been kind to me. how do you live with hunger so easily? I could go a whole day with one small meal when I was unable to afford food...shopping has become a form of social and sustain pleasure. After all we didn't need green stamps, just hfcs to stick to our brians. I should probably buy some tang instead of crushing Vitamin C for orange juice. LOLZ.

Just kidding. But would make a funny quip @ mental life after a vaxx.

I wish I knew, I just don't feel a gnawing need to eat when I drink and add RSO for my pain on top of that and I can go a few days between meals.

I didn't used to be like that.

Forty years ago I could eat an entire pizza or half-gallon ice cream myself and be hungry a few hours later. Now, two sammiches as I made for breakfast yesterday seem to keep me going for two days.

I'd like to make a couple of burgers or chicken with veggies on the side, but the act of walking the twenty feet to the kitchen is too much effort for too little reward.

I have no ideas how I achieved such a mental state, but I've been this way for well over a year now. I suspect I am highly aware of my remaining indoors, very infrequently going out, and knowing that my relative immobility means I require little sustenance to maintain me is the reason behind my non-eating.

Heck, the last time I went shopping before Mrs. went to the river, when I came home I found six bags and boxes of snack items I needed to discard in the pantry as they all were six months to a year past their dates and unlike a fine wine, definitely did not improve with age.

Even the facial rash, a propensity to break out in lesions if I am in the sun, swollen hands and feet, and extreme internal pain.

This has all happened in the previous two years.

Despite the car accident, I was walking five miles a week cutting my lawn for three years.

Then this, whatever this is, hit in 2019 and I have been housebound and can rarely venture out to shop without being in crippling pain for a few days afterward.

'Makes me wonder. Thursday I couldn't even crawl to the kitchen to get my prescriptions' behind the pain and had to ask Mrs. to please get them for me.

Damn, my life really sucks right now.

Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country,
don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy.
