That's where the cancer was that they did the surgery on. It's actually a bigger incision than the pic shows. Plus they removed a few spots on her belly just to be sure those weren't cancerous. :\

Re: Food with Attitude!
I'm going to throw a whole chicken in the oven soon. At least that way, we'll have cold chicken to eat.

I'm pretty sure our power is going to go out. It goes out in a bad thunderstorm. We've been getting warnings for storm surge. It looks like we'll be on that side of the storm. We're far enough enough away we don't have to worry about surge just flooding as the drainage here is terrible.

My son is worried about flooding. He has 2 huge saltwater tanks. He has a backup generator for them, but I worry if the stands get wet, if they will hold the weight.

We don't have a generator so I'll be up all night swishing the water in my fish tank to keep my babies alive. I only have 3 fish, but we've had them for several months & they've been growing on me. Either way, they're critters under my watch.

Oh, my son just told me he has a battery back up for me! Yayy!

It's already flooding downtown. Some models are showing it either riding the coast or coming in anywhere from Jacksonville to upper SC. I don't think they know.

Don't let the rising storm water ever touch your hands or feet. Many people lose finger and toe nails from the water toxins.

Yeah, I hate to see this videos where people are letting the kids play in it. Gross!

We managed to fill up the truck. A lot of gas stations are out. Hopefully I can get a bag of ice.

I love how much you love animals. :)

Yes you have her name right. She's in noticeable pain today. We tried that stupid plastic cone earlier and it was unbearably heartbreaking. It had to be on the tightest setting to prevent her from getting it off. And then it was so tight on her neck/throat and really close to the stitches. She was crying.

We took it off and are just watching her closely. We got a different cone, a soft fabric one, from Petco. Haven't tried it yet. Giving her a break for the time being. Poor thing. I feel so bad for her.

Poor baby! I have seen the softer ones. Annoying but so much better than those hard ones.

Just petting and being with them is a great comfort to them.

Can you gt the vet to prescribe enough painkiller to put her into a drifting/half sleeping state for a few days so she is pain free, and healing via rest? I got rid of an abscess (half her side) on my old 'dog' by feeding her 1 gram of spirulina (pill form) into a hotdog 5x a day. $900.00 to 'lance it' (giggle), and 'lance it' I did indeed. ANyhow, sleep is more important then anything right now. That's where the RSO comes into play. Lacking that, see above.

Or how about Benedryl to make her sleep? That's what my daughter gives her dog during thunderstorms. It works better for her than the prescription she was given. I think Xanax just made her more upset.

We're going to call the vet tomorrow to see if they can add something for the pain. She definitely needs more rest. She was awake most of the day wimpering in pain. So heartbreaking. As of now they've only prescribed her gabapentin for pain (300mg) every 12 hours. I don't feel like that is enough. And today has pretty much shown that it's not.

She's also on an antibiotic.

They had us giving her 2 benadryl plus one and a half pepcid ac prior to surgery. Surprisingly, the benadryl didn't make her sleepy.

She has trazadone for thunderstorms, but I'm not sure if I should throw that in the mix with her other prescriptions.

It was a pill. STuffed into 1/5th of a hotdog. Gulpable rather then chewable size. I hollowed it out a bit, she was smart, and restuffed the end wih hotdog. So it looked whole.
