Good morning everyone. No pics but it's bacon snacking Sunday morning!

I never tried to fast but was taking two to three days between meals and the nurse from Antem Healthcare chewed me out for not eating often enough.

It's probably a really bad idea for anyone to try esp with underlying health issues; on day 2 with the shakes I did breathing exercises @ the grocery store when my heart started palpitating. Wrap up & fully expected: Day 1, I cried; day 2, I shook; day 3, I was calm & in ketosis. Today my youngest is taking us out for fat healthy burgers for a postponed mothers's day celebration. It's nice to have all the monkeys making their own; taking the quadrupeds, too. kitty kitty

So my $5 rolling pin broke. Again. He tried super glue. Nope. Then he tried a liter bottle full of water. Nope. Now he's back to my original dollar store plastic one.

He didn't realize rolling out thin circles is so hard, especially when I'm too short for the counter.

Speaking of fasting...
QUOTE
Kenyan police discovered 15 additional bodies on Wednesday, bringing the death toll from the ‘Shakahola Forest Massacre’ near the coastal town of Malindi to 226.

Last week, investigators reported organ harvesting in some of the first 112 bodies to be found. Most of the victims are said to have died of starvation after allegedly following the instructions of Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, who is facing terrorism charges.

Mackenzie, the founder of the Good News International Church, is being held by police for allegedly inciting his followers to engage in ritual fasting in order to “meet Jesus.”

Burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, corn. They also had potato salad and Kraft dinner.

I like these days because I can spend time outside with my son.

So Woody wants to know how to tell if the pork skins have gone stale? Do they get crunchier?

He was eating some until I told him they were dated 3 months ago.

Awww, Para...you are so lucky to have your own personal chef!! You too, Simple!

y_lovin

I didn't cook much over the weekend. I had to put the 8 ft deer netting back up around my garden. Somehow it got torn down last fall and was all tangled in the weeds, so I had to pull it out of all the old growth and new growth and staple it back to the locust posts. At least I got a good workout! And the weather was absolutely beautiful yesterday. I made a giant pasta salad Friday and mostly ate that except for the stuff I picked up at the healthfood store. Oh, and I did bake some rhubarb bread. It is my Grandmother's recipe and has way too much sugar but brings back such good memories of sitting on her old metal porch furniture with a cold glass of iced tea from some herbs she picked in her garden and a slice of rhubarb bread slathered with farm fresh butter. Usually after she had us weeding the garden with her for what seemed like hours and hours. lol

Happy Monday!

That sounds like a decent weekend. Something is eating up my basil so I think I'm going to pick most of it and dry it. I'm hitting it will pop back up for more later in the summer.

It gnawing on my peppers since too. Worms maybe or slugs. There no bugs on the underside of the leaves. I hope I can figure it out. I have a baby pepper already.

Re: Food with Attitude!
So we've decided to try and feed our kitties separately and control the amounts rather than just leave dry food out all day. Billy is getting pretty fat. I'm trying to stop it before he develops any health problems. I know cats can get diabetes, etc.

It's going to be hard because we have 3 cats that are all different. Butters is good, so he needs to maintain.

Then we have the skinny, half bald, neurotic one that hides all the time. Woody made her a place to hide as her and Billy don't get along anymore. I'm thinking we could slide her food behind the chair in the corner where she basically lives. Billy's too fat to fit back there.

I guess we'll feed twice a day so they're not starving all the time. Anyone have any advice or experience with this?

Been under the weather with an abscessed tooth the past few days and finally got some antibiotics and the swelling is going down. It's been oatmeal and soft foods for me.

I have always done free-range food for the kittehs. If they start to see the bottom of the dry food bowl they start letting me know. Greyby gets up with me in the morning and follows me into the kitchen to make sure I check the dry food bowl and stands there until his water is changed and then he's good. For some reason, he likes to eat during the night.

If I changed the feeding pattern, I'd probably hear about it and see changes in their behavior. I've never had a kitteh with weight issues, so I'm not sure how to handle that. Might be a thyroid thing or something, too.

It doesn't hurt to try the new feeding schedule and see what kind of rebellion you get.

Oh, I'm sorry, but glad you're getting better. I have teeth issues as well. With crowns upwards of $1000, they're not likely to be resolved anytime soon.

Oh, I'm sure we're going to hear about it from Butters! He will scream at me for an hour or however long it takes me to fill the dish. I bought one of the dishes that make them work for it a little, but that didn't help.

My son has 3 cats and since his cat had crystals, he has to buy him prescription food. They put them all in separate rooms with the appropriate food. He has a slight (or perhaps really big) advantage. They are gone all day at work and don't have to listen to them bitch. Or maybe his cats are more polite then Butters.chuckle

We keep the big bag in a closet and then fill a Tupperware to keep in the kitchen. He supervises when Woody fills the big bowl. I mean he literally walks him to the closet and then escorts him back into the kitchen. He is truly a foodie cat!
