So for my recent food exploits;

I simmered some Carne Asada with a can of mixed veggie that contained okra/corn/tomato. I added a separate can of diced tomato also.

I first, added the Asada to some diced onion and mushroom I had previously fried in butter, Then, after the beef was thoroughly cooked, I added the veggies and let simmer; The end product was served over rice and beef ramen.

Okra is low on my list of vegetables I care to eat. I certainly don't like it by itself. But in the veggie can mix, along with the other ingredients I added, it tasted just fine.

That was last night's dinner.

I also made a potato salad for Saturday.

Heh.... I left the potato's on the stove top, too long at too high a heat. By the time I went to check on them, they had turned to mush..... So I had to make mashed taters out of them! Then I had to do another batch for the potato salad.

So, for tonight for dinner it's going to be a roast turkey with mashed taters and other fixings.

I found my camera again.....

Maybe, if i remember and find the time, I will take a pic of my perfect 3 or 4 egg omelets. They are truly photo worthy. I make those about once a week.

My dad surprised me. He was so impressed with how I prepared and presented one of our dinners last week, that he took a picture of it himself. I wasn't aware until I asked him to email me a different picture I had him take of their cat being silly with his tongue out. He had it in his photo file and showed it to me when looking for the cat.

From that $4.00 bag of lamb...the makings of the shepherds pie! So, that's the 2nd dinner and I saved 2 very small chops for a partial next meal as well. What a bargain. The end result is not as nice a pic as the start of my dicing really. Only onion and some peas with a bit of beef stock (lacking lamb stock, for now, the bones are saved) and worcestershire sauce with a dab of tomato paste (the tubes are way better then the little cans for 2 people dishes). Viola! Never had one.

Heck, it says good for 2 weeks after opening but...if you roll up the bottom it lasts way longer then that. Just make sure to squeeze the air out and put the cap back on with a bit (1/16th ") sticking out. Nothing there to rot!

ANd a few dollops because of the concentration is about 1/2 a small tin of the stuff.

I've never seen tubes of tomato paste. I'm always putting the rest in a tiny container for later.

Great lamb deal Lance and I agree on the absence of tubed tomato paste here.

Late dinner here too, I was beat after my grocery trip so Sue helped carry it in and she suggested we have the chicken and tuna salad I bought instead.

So my dinner was tuna and hers was chicken with potato salad 'maters, and watermelon. I bought a new bag of salad so Sue dumped the one in the 'fridge that was turning on the drive and we chucked the melon rinds out there when done and soon we heard snorting and some growls and a raccoon was in the drive eating all of it!

Better make sure the cats stay in! That's cute, but my daughter's cat almost died from a raccoon attack. If you feed them, they'd going to hang around.

I guess we do have it, it's just a lot more expensive.

Soooooo many delectables on here the last couple of days.

I could use a few of those chocolate chip pancakes right about now.

I have also duly noted that legs go on the bottom of grills, from one who happily pays the $25 assembly fee whenever possible. lol

Happy Caturday to both of you and all.

I've not grilled for four years behind the car accident and its constant pain, but a great time was had grilling the steaks. And I really did read the assembly instructions, but they were quite confusing hence my one hundred minute assembly time. And they really didn't differentiate between the front and rear lags [they are different], nor to which side of the grill to attach them.

Avenger1 I never pay to have something assembled, I never trust they will do it to my satisfaction. Until the accident I did all maintenance, repairs, and installations myself whether a well pump, built-in oven, water heater, or the truck's brakes, power steering, even radiator and water pump.

Now I just suck as a useless cripple.

Today I'm going to grill burgers and bacon and I must admit I read up on how to do it to avoid cooking disaster.

The chocolate chip pancakes have whet my appetite for something. So I have decided to make chocolate chip and butterscotch chip cookies.

But first I must dump the ashes from the grill into a trash bag and have an acetaminophen and a tramadol with a glass of wine to abate the pain.

Woody says it looks delicious! It's funny because an old neighbor stopped by to say hi this afternoon on our way out. The neighbor who used to make liver for him!

Oatmeal scotchies are Woody's favorite cookies.

The only thing you really need for grilling is a water spray bottle. Sometimes the grease from the burgers catches fire.

No spray bottle. She left it behind with all my grilling tools since she had my previous grill go to 1 800 junk or whatever it is called.
I need to replace everything on my limited fixed income now.
