So we've decided to try and feed our kitties separately and control the amounts rather than just leave dry food out all day. Billy is getting pretty fat. I'm trying to stop it before he develops any health problems. I know cats can get diabetes, etc.

It's going to be hard because we have 3 cats that are all different. Butters is good, so he needs to maintain.

Then we have the skinny, half bald, neurotic one that hides all the time. Woody made her a place to hide as her and Billy don't get along anymore. I'm thinking we could slide her food behind the chair in the corner where she basically lives. Billy's too fat to fit back there.

I guess we'll feed twice a day so they're not starving all the time. Anyone have any advice or experience with this?

Been under the weather with an abscessed tooth the past few days and finally got some antibiotics and the swelling is going down. It's been oatmeal and soft foods for me.

I have always done free-range food for the kittehs. If they start to see the bottom of the dry food bowl they start letting me know. Greyby gets up with me in the morning and follows me into the kitchen to make sure I check the dry food bowl and stands there until his water is changed and then he's good. For some reason, he likes to eat during the night.

If I changed the feeding pattern, I'd probably hear about it and see changes in their behavior. I've never had a kitteh with weight issues, so I'm not sure how to handle that. Might be a thyroid thing or something, too.

It doesn't hurt to try the new feeding schedule and see what kind of rebellion you get.
