My laptop is so screwy, I'm going to re-install Windows. It keeps freezing & I have to shut it off using the off button. I've checked the disk & memory for errors & they look ok. So I guessing Windows got corrupted somwhow.

May cat routinely changes my laptop to use right to left writing or typing direction.

I don't know what websites he browses at night; he may be watching kitty porn!!

I was thinking that about Butters! He is in s horny little thing. He's always climbing on Billy's back. He's so patient with him.

I'm installing Windows 7. That's what was on it and I still had the disk from another computer. Hopefully it will accept the serial. Hard to tell as I bought it refurbished with windows installed.

I'm trying to get the drivers updated. It's never as easy as I think it should be.

I gave up for now. We're on our way to our be daughter's house. I'll get back on it later after I get un aggravated!

It isn't easy now. Many of the MS drivers are no longer available and Lenovo's web site has eliminated most of the drivers for that series laptop. You may wish to try the lenovo updater than try downloading the individual drivers for Win 7 from teh lenovo site if you can find them. If you can't, I may have them at my office I can grab and send you.

I tried to download the updater. It said I needed to download a .net framework. So after I did that, it said the updater failed. wtf

I'll try again later after we get home. If not, I'll keep searching for them. I just got frustrated.

I could only get the internet to work hooked up with an Ethernet cable so far. Once I get the wireless going, it will be a lot easier!

I'm watching The Twilight Zone episode "He Lives".

It is exactly what the liberals are doing today.

Hitler is telling the young Dennis Hopper to create a martyr for the cause, someone who has no value whatsoever in life, but can become valuable in death--a George Floyd.

Damn. This episode is exactly what is being done to our country today.

I wouldn't eat any seafood if I lived further inland then 200 miles from the coast (except canned). Never did growing up. Perch yes, salmon no! But it's prawning season here, which are actually side stripe shrimp so, unlike the true prawn they are vegetarians. I've seen farmed fish operations and now with the GMO salmon being hidden in menu's...nope, no thanks!

Dinner was hash browned potatoes, chicken strips, and Mexican vegetables.

Today was a complete waste for getting anything done, but most Saturdays are after my work week.

I even only went outside today to feed the feral cat after he came up the steps into the den to ask me why he had no food in his bowl!

I'm so glad! It sucks to be left incommunicado!

My download completed and my full low-level format on the cheap $5 thumb drive finished too. Now it is formatting as a GPT partition with a UEFI file scheme so I can enable the hardware security in the PC.

I believe after the MS tech assisted me Thursday we should be able to install five copies of Office 365 on personal PC's and laptops from my personal account vs. using one of the five installs I get from my gov account.

I may manage several million in gov software licenses yet that fact doesn't mean I routinely steal them from work for home use.

Why isn't everyone honest?

I started reading this thread, Louis, after you mentioned it on the prayer thread. I love this thread very much! The food recipes and photos always brighten my day...this is my first post here and I hope you don't mind it's of my cat....

I couldn't resist posting this photo that my kitty girl took of herself 10 years ago!

I can't believe it's been that long! She and her brother are 14 years old. She doesn't climb around like she used to, but she still gets around. She jumped up on the bar/divider between my kitchen and dining room where I used to work on my laptop. She would walk on the keyboard when she wanted my attention....this is one of many she took of herself until I finally got in the habit of closing it. I was looking for ones that I took of her sitting on the keyboard and another one where she was sprawled completely over the keyboard with that innocent look of "what's wrong with being here?"

Bastetcat's not her real name, btw...daughter named them as she picked them out...but the name fits her. She was the runt of the litter...Her brother is totally gray and looks like a Russian blue---almost exactly like the gray cat on the Sheba cat food ads/label...

As far as Mr Blackwell, he looks well fed and I bet he would make himself at home inside, lol...

I posted a few foodie pics back on the old main Covid thread around last Christmas...if I make something worthy of sharing I will post...

Good luck, Para with the computer--I am such a luddite when it comes to technical stuff--I wish I knew more about them---I gave up on Firefox years ago because it would freeze also....

Just want to say again how much I appreciate everyone here...love you guys very much!

I'm so glad to see you join us here!!! Yes we have much fun sharing recipes, life, our ups, our downs and helping each other!

Your Kitteh is beautiful!!!

We welcome any and all foodie pics and stories you wish to share!

I just woke up and let the kitties outside, the humidity struck me like a giant rubber chicken when I opened the door so I retreated back in and poured a beer, forgetting the coffee pot is ready.

There is only one solution: finish the beer and nap for another ninety minutes.

Have a great morning everyone. I'll be sure to post lunch, dinner or nothing, depending if I may decide to eat a meal today.

We survive them by making definite plans to go outside the evening before.

Then letting the kitties out at sunrise, feeling the heat, going back inside and collapsing asleep until afternoon. That was not my normal day for many years, rather I would be the one outside when temps get over 100 or even higher to the 100 teens. I just haven't been out in it for two years so I'm still adjusting to it again.

I did just activate the coffee pot, take my insulin, and get my morning prescriptions together which leave me filled with guilt.

Every male family member died at age forty, father, uncle, brother. I'm in my sixties. Maybe I too would be dead were it not for two injections I just gave myself and the sixteen pils I will take with my coffee.

Six are for pain and inflammation management, one I try to not take as it is damaging to kidneys.

Then there's blood pressure, heart rate regulation, three vitamins, an aspirin, and two others to control digestion.

And then if I'm going to eat, I need an insulin injection about thirty minutes before and need to take digestive enzyme capsules with every snack or meal.

I'm not whining, just painfully aware that I will die if I don't have my job and the healthcare that it provides and left to nature I would have been dead two decades ago.

What a way to start every day.

Pool has seen some of the pharmacy receipts; in a month I may have some that the medication cost comes to over $20,000 combined and my cost is $0. Without my job I could not afford them and would die within the month.

I am beholden to my job and being a hostage to anything goes against my very composition as a person, so a constant state if mental turmoil.

I made the War Horse coffee DB sent me, it's pretty good, I need to send her a bag of Death Wish coffee for her to try.

Maybe I'll leave the computer work to another day and get that generator running again. I can move it around since I replaced the flat tire on the hand truck.

I better have my coffee now and decide what's next!

Edit to add after reading Pool's post: Yes shorts, tee shirt, no underwear, linen tablecloths outside, and cloth fabric lawn furniture, not torturous plastic or metal.

If no underwear, where does all the sweat go?
or am I the only one who sweats like a horse..all over?

And Louis, ouch. I have essentially no health care so luckily I am not on any meds. If I have an accident I hope I am killed and not merely injured or maimed because financially it would devastate my family. There isn't much, but enough and I don't want to have it all go to trying to keep me on this planet despite terrible odds.

I think I sweat all over. I'm not dripping with it until temps get over 100 or I'm strenuously active which isn't happening just yet behind my injuries.

I think working in the house will have a greater effect overall and be something Mrs. can see was done when she returns tomorrow.

Supplies and parts for all this are on the den floor in front of the fireplace, many still in their bags. I think we just had about two weeks of rain so we only had a couple of days outside where I did fix one lawnmower.

I have her toilet flusher and tank-to-bowl bolts to replace along with her plumbing to the toilet--I'll replace the chrome-plated copper pipe with stainless steel flex line as well as all the tank innards.

I also have a cellular router and a switch plugged in via extension cord in front of the fireplace awaiting being behind the TV with the switch hidden and the router placed as high as I can find a place for it.

A PC sitting on the floor on the other side of the room that needs put behind the TV with the one already there.

And an air compressor inside near the back door that I need to use in the kitchen to blow out the clogged drain lines in the fridge, but the fridge and freezer part are jam-packed full so I cannot allow it to thaw for a day to insure any ice in the walls that may be blocking the drain lines has melted because the food will go bad--that is a dilemma I don't yet have a solution to.

And at least one load of laundry to do and a load of dishes.

I guess that is how I will tolerate the heat today--by staying inside and getting done things that will be visible to my wife.

The generator work can be when she is home as I also need to open the two electrical panels in the house, and alter some wiring, so both 200 Amp panels can be powered by the generator. There are between eighty and ninety circuit breakers between the two panels, it's a home far too big for two old people.

I hope y'all don't mind if I join you at this virtual eatery (lol)...

I started reading this thread, Louis, after you mentioned it on the prayer thread. I love this thread very much! The food recipes and photos always brighten my day...this is my first post here and I hope you don't mind it's of my cat....

I couldn't resist posting this photo that my kitty girl took of herself 10 years ago!

https://imgur.com/a/DdEco9W

Welcome! We love kitty pics, too! Here is my big guy.

I quit using Firefox because it was messing up for me, too. I started using Brave I saw it suggested here. I tried downloading it last night, but it something it wrong with their site I think. It will work out eventually.

I'm making chicken noodle soup to take to my son's house tonight. I boiled down drumsticks yesterday & Mr picked all the meat off. I will go heat up the broth and add in the carrots soon.

I just woke so coffee first!

Beautiful horse! I have not been riding since I was a kid. I miss it. That is the one thing I would get if I won the lottery!

Louis, I understand about the medicine. I just figured out how Mr's insurance works. I'm a little slow.1doh1

After his drug costs reach over $4100 for the year, his share goes up. His 2 diabetic meds that were $70 last month are now over $350. I'm trying to figure out how to get them. He is stubborn though. He says even if we have it, he doesn't want pat that much.

It figures. He just went to the doc and everything was good. His A1C went down to 7 and his goal is to get it under 7. He doesn't want to go back on metformin. It really screws up his gut with cramping.

What the hell?!?!? His cost goes up?

My healthcare is by Anthem. Once we pay either $1,500 or $1,800 in copays [I forget how much], whether they are for Dr. visits, prescriptions, or trips to the E.R. once we reach that limit they cover meds and supplies at 100% and Dr. and hospital visits are a $25 copay.

For example, one of my glaucoma drops is $99 at Anthem's cost to me. So in those cases of high-cost meds I will call or email the manufacturer and get a manufacturer's discount so now my glaucoma drops only cost me $30 because the Mfr. then covers $69 of the cost. And now that we have met the $1,800 maximum those eye drops cost me nothing.

Why the heck such ridiculous differences in what healthcare covers? It's infuriating.

Right? It's called a donut hole. The lady at the drug store told me that so I could look it up.It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of! We have to pay 25% which is about $225 for one & $140 for the other, per month!

We have to spend another $2000 on drugs before the coverage kicks back in. Then in January, it starts again. That is why you hear about older folks having to choose between meds & food.

[link to www.medicareinteractive.org (secure)]

All doctor & hospital visits are covered 80%, I think after we pay a small deductable for the year, like $200?

The drug deductable is separate, I think $325. Plus the monthly premiums. They're not high compared to private plans, but if you're on SS, it's a lot.

Nothing to brag about apart from it takes a while to make. This way theres always a ready meal. Just make pasta and add parmesan. Or make rice and grill chips with cheddar and parmesan. [link to ibb.co (secure)]
