We're empowered!!

And... I called Anthem about my displeasure with the eye drops I have, they agreed, called the pharmacy a few miles from my home, and I'll be picking up a ninety day supply of the brand I prefer covered at 100%.

I asked about having my CGM [the blood glucose monitor] replaced with one that links via Bluetooth so it can send an alarm at night to wake me. She said the doctor or nurse will need to call and fax over the medical need for it and they will cover it too.

I'll be emailing my doc or probably his nurse as she likes me, to call Anthem and Fax over a justification and prescription.

So... success!

Edit to add: The pharmacy texted me five minutes later that my prescription is ready!
 Quoting: Louis in Richmond

Good! I thought maybe they would if the doc said you need one.

I have a script for a headache med that wasn't originally covered until my doc said I needed it. I had another one like that for my back as well.

It's strange that they covered meds for me, but wouldn't cover the one Mr asked for. Although maybe it was because they covered one they said was close to the same thing. It was't really though. Therapeutic alternative they called it.

Oh, that sounds like a sticky situation. Does she live by herself & want/need company?

We got the garden out front all fixed up tonight after we got home when it wasn't so hot. It's just a little corner by the front door, but it's mine & it's pretty.rose

Mr has some Asian rice noodles my daughter made with some frozen egg rolls he bought.

There is still some chicken noodles soup left. I'm going to make a grilled cheese on rye with havari & a Portobello mushroom to go with it.

and Para, my mom is like a steamroller. She's awesome and she's used to getting her way. She and my dad are still happily married and he spoils her. In all honestly, I suspect things are tight for them financially and although my brother and sister both live close to her in the midwest, I suspect she thinks that since my kids are nearly grown I could come and take care of them. I do have to leave here once littlest is finished with her schooling. But that is another story.

I'm not sure I can do it. I love my mom and dad but I have always been the black sheep of the family - I don't do conventional very well.

And I worry that my already strained relationships with my siblings would be truly severed if I were to buy a house with my parents who are in their 80s and then they are gone and I live in a house that is part of their estate. It gets complicated but life is that way.

I hope everyone finds something that tastes as good as my coffee does today!

Good morning DB and anyone else on hi

My breakfast is pasta, marinara, sausage, with freshly shaved Parmesan cheese on top!

I know, odd breakfast, however Mrs. cooked pasta for lunch yesterday and I've not eaten since then, so what she made for me I kept under refrigeration until today.

Salute to good coffee, indeed. Working on my first cup. Just wrapped up the simple syrup. Will squeeze all the lemons and limes later. And since I made so much syrup, I'll go ahead and make a batch of amaretto sours: = parts lemon juice, amaretto, syrup. Serve over hammered ice.

Family is always complicated it seems. My parents are gone now. I have sisters & a brother, but I only talk to the oldest sister anymore. We get along now that I'm an adult.

When my mom died, she took care of her things. I didn't even go home for the funeral. I cut ties when I married & moved away. She was never much of a mother.

Best of luck to you in working out how to let her know you're not interested.

I have to start therapy for the bursitis in my shoulder today. This is a new place and hopefully much better than the place I was sent to for my neck a few years ago.

We are going out tonight for dinner afterward with my daughter, SIL, & Baby if she doesn't have plans with friends.

in reference to the family issue I mentioned, we are from Minnesota [bachelor farmer] stock. That means we don't really talk about the elephant in the room. We just avoid it until it hopefully goes away.

Louis I am thinking I need pasta and meat sauce for dinner now. But it is so darned hot for us, I remain undecided. I am thinking about venturing to the garden to get some grounding/play in the dirt time. I still have 4 zucchini plants to put into the ground. My broccoli has mostly bolted.

Glad I didn't bother with peas this spring.

But the flowers are ahhhh mazing. Peonies, poppies, and the mock orange bush which smells heavenly.

Wow DB, you have much greater gardening progress than us.

When it was hot here two weeks ago I used the ruffly back pasta and made that antimatter antipasto with the cheeses, sopressata Italian meat, beans, tomatoes, and Italian dressing. It was a great hot day meal.

It cooled down here and should be cool much of the week behind rain. We had 1.38" today so far.

Oh, here is my Corned beef and onion ring dinner.

Mrs. is now on her new phone and headed off to tan.

She only broke down crying three times while trying to set it up.

It will be months until she gotten comfortable with it.

I did not fuss at her and was very patient helping her set it up.

She doesn't adapt to new technology well; it's a traumatic experience for her.

That sounds like Mr. I'm not even sure he has ever used his phone to go on the internet.

He figured out how to hook up the bluetooth to the device I bought for the truck. It's the best $15 I've spent in a long time. Our daughter signed him to their Spotify account. I guess music gave him the proper motivation to learn how to do it. tounge

I got my OtterBox in today so my new phone is copying files from the old one right now. No more dragging my finger over bumpy glass trying to swipe.rockon

My daughter gave me a phone chip on her family plan. All I need to do is get a phone and pop it in.

I am reserved about getting a new smart phone.....sigh.

I prefer face to face communication. If I find myself in the neighborhood of friend or family, I would rather just drop in than call or text.

Currently, I don't own a mobile device. I prefer it this way, but I will probably eventually break down and get a compatible smart phone again so that I can call people to let them know I plan on stopping by.

Oh crap!

I think my dog just had a stroke or a heart attack!

I was walking up to the main house with him and he just keeled over, groaned and stopped breathing!

I walked over too him and pounded on his rib cage. He was like a rag doll....

After about 20 seconds, he sat up, real weak and looked at me like what the hell happened?

I asked him if he wanted some food......he stumbled down the steps after me and followed me inside. I gave him his food and he kinda panted with a sheepish grin....and then began eating.

He is 12 years old....

I don't think he has much time left. sad
