However, in May 2012, the FBI awarded a $19 million contract to operate and maintain ORION for 8 years. The FBI’s CTO told us that future versions of Sentinel may replace ORION. We are concerned that costs originally intended to be borne by Sentinel were transferred to ORION and that future Sentinel funding will be used to replace ORION.
