I've been saying this for all of 2020. 1/4 of the economy is gone, 1/4 of all jobs gone. What are towns/cities going to do when 1/4 of payroll taxes disappear and commercial real estate taxes dry up. I said 2021 will be about how the tax base eroded. Its simple math, they have to pay for pensions and operations.

This article is over a year old!! I just received in the mail my assessment and it's way lower than last year which means a lower tax bill. Everyone is receiving lower assessments!!

Nope! Not around here. They did reassessment like they do every ten years and property taxes on a building I own went from around $1,200 up to almost $3,000. So an $1,800 increase. UGH!!!!!!!!

In Colorado, voters, allegedly just voted in favor of repealing something called the Gallagher Act. It kept residential property tax rates in check at the expense of higher property tax for commercial properties. Colorado has some of the lowest residential tax rates in country but not for much longer. Starting in 2022 they will begin to go up by magnitudes no one has ever seen before in Colorado. And there is no ceiling to stop it from going up indefinitely. Our unaffordable housing is about to become more unaffordable. Good job Democrats.
