Agreed. Really really dumb. Birds don't have affection. They only react to stimulus in a reptilian instinctual way. You can see the bird is ready to strike out of flight or fight reaction.

When I was 12 or so, a baby owl had fallen out of a tree and I knew I xouldn't aanything to save it and left it alone. It was big enough that there was no way to possiby feed it and it would have needing tending. In those days, they didn't really have rescue places that dealt with large bird predators. I doubt even a falconer would have interfered.

Check back in a week after the game wardens confiscate and fine the kids DA parents.
