Most game meat is lean, but they aren't. You stew them up. Porcupines are slow moving creatures and taste fine. In history, people routinely ate them. |

Most people won't do this, but if you do it, you may save your family's lives. |

That makes them crazy and hungry. Carp is not a good tasting fish, so you smoke it to improve the flavor. Carp gets big so that could be a rather significant meal. |

Do they grow enough food to feed themselves? Net importer/exporter? Most nations on earth are net importers these days. Although with rationing many could probably survive. There are only a few countries that are true bread-baskets, where people wouldn't see much of a drop in quality/quantity/variety if they were cut off from the world. |

Go harvest them right away. Butcher it and brine the meat. Their meat is lean so you take a meat hammer and pound the heck out of it after. I recommend stewing it as it can be chewy. Never grill a squirrel if you can help it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 51718307 We should make a point of avoiding Calais in the future years, fuck France. Don’t you understand that where ever you go on this planet, we have the same problem, corrupt politicians. So when you say fuck France, it’s better to say fuck Macron and all the other politicians in France. |

That is wasted calories. Plus your teeth are in terrible shape. Get soap now as you need good quality fat to make soap, and you won't have it. Castille soap is what campers use as it can be diluted and even used as mouthwash or shampoo. The old British WW2 way to wash some clothing was using fern roots as they have sapponins in them. |

Large turtles taste muddy. You got to think about food nobody else will eat to keep your family's bellies full. Snakes can be skinned and are bony so you boil them in a broth. You never ever grill snake meat. That way you get all the meat and it's easier on your teeth. |

That clutch is gelatinous and can be heated and eaten. It looks like clear jello with a bunch of eggs in sacks. |

You could fish in some places. In winter, if you had that solar light, you could tie a string around a tighly sealed jar with the light in it. And drop bait with the light. And the bigger fish are hungry and might strike on it and give you a meal you would not otherwise have. Whatever inedible guts from traps or hunting would be your bait as insects and worms will be scarce. |

That 3 month period will be rough. Everybody better garden just in like in WW2. There are some meadow plants and samaras from maples and red bud pods and not much else as things are starting to grow again. The squirrels are weak and sickly, so check their livers for spots meaning disease. Don't eat them. Big fish will be fiercely hungry and will strike on anything as the insect population is very low. |

Your gut motility is shot. You do not want to be in that situation as you are wekened and probably have scurvy and will pass blood. Trapped food will cause methane release and bloat and hurts. |

The USA exported $1.8 billion in agricutural products to Germany in 2017. Get the picture? Logistics will totally be snarled in the USA with a 2nd Civil War. We won't be able to feed our own urbanites, much less anywhere else. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69835686 Trapped food will cause methane release and bloat and hurts. Very interesting. Please explain more. So fasting slows down gut motility and bacteria creates bloating? Food actually prevents this from happening? Is this fasting rage completely wrong in healing the gut? Fascinating. Thank you kindly for your guidance. |

What does caffeine do? It stimulates smooth muscle contraction which is why if you drink too much coffe you get diarrhea. Why? The job of the intestines is to recycle water. The kidneys controlblood pressure and so modulate thrist to get you to drink so you won't get hypovolemic (low blood volume) and hypotension (low blood pressure). The intestines absorb water through villi. Caffeine accelerates the process causing watery stools. If a person has no caffeine, besides headaches, their bowel are upset as their gut motility returns to normal as the smoth muscle is no longer stimulated. With reduced food, then it becomes harder and harder to pass a bowel movement as so little food is moving through the digestive system. Say a patient has cancer. You never halt fluids, but when dying, sometimes people stop eating, first because losing bowel control and pain from obstruction from so little stimulation as they ingest little. In a worse case starvation situation, the patients who are young will get kwaishiokor and the adults get marasmus. Their livers stop producing enzymes and so have gut leakage and cannot properly digest food. The kids will get distended bellies and it may be painful. The adults tend o look drawn and gaunt. They will probably have gut pain as well. Simple fasting is not starvation. |
