Just this time last year Priti Patel threatened to deprive Ireland of food and medicine.

Isn’t karma just a bitch.

Hope Scotland break the Saxon yoke.

If you can hunt, what you want to eat are geese and porcupines. Most game meat is lean, but they aren't. You stew them up. Porcupines are slow moving creatures and taste fine. In history, people routinely ate them.

Two good food sources are acorns and maple syrup. That saved many lives. Acorns need lots of treatment due to the tannins. Maples and birches have the sap rise and so that is boiled down for syrup. That is a sugar source when nobody has any.

Acorns when steamed have an oil in them and that is good f treating cracked skin exposed to the elements.

Most people won't do this, but if you do it, you may save your family's lives.

If carp is around, they will bite if you take some cracked corn or dried peas, put them in a sock, and stick that in the water. That makes them crazy and hungry. Carp is not a good tasting fish, so you smoke it to improve the flavor. Carp gets big so that could be a rather significant meal.

What's the agricultural industry like in the UK these days? Do they grow enough food to feed themselves? Net importer/exporter?

Most nations on earth are net importers these days. Although with rationing many could probably survive.

There are only a few countries that are true bread-baskets, where people wouldn't see much of a drop in quality/quantity/variety if they were cut off from the world.

The best to get squirrels is tack up some snare wire and they get their heads stuck in a noose and then try yo evade and fall and strangle. Go harvest them right away. Butcher it and brine the meat. Their meat is lean so you take a meat hammer and pound the heck out of it after. I recommend stewing it as it can be chewy. Never grill a squirrel if you can help it.

We should make a point of avoiding Calais in the future years, fuck France.

You are used to getting fresh vegetables and fruits, but you won't have these and need vitamins like Vitamin C. Otherwise you can get scurvy. Your teeth hurt and bleed and get loose. That is a big mess under a survival situation.

Guys can drink pine needle tea, but ladies of child bearing years can't as it can induce a miscarriage.

In a survival situation, you never grill meat, but stew it as you need those at drippings. That is wasted calories. Plus your teeth are in terrible shape.

Get soap now as you need good quality fat to make soap, and you won't have it.
Castille soap is what campers use as it can be diluted and even used as mouthwash or shampoo.

The old British WW2 way to wash some clothing was using fern roots as they have sapponins in them.

Run to the hardware storeand buy some outside solar patio lights. Those are excellent in a power outage to recharge and SAFELY have light and not worry about batteries. And they are bright. Don't tell anyone you have them as you will recharge them every day. The best way is from a second story window leading to a roof so no one steals them.

I would get a water bob too.

If you are lucky and turtles are around and not too large, those can be stewed up and make a fine meal. Large turtles taste muddy. You got to think about food nobody else will eat to keep your family's bellies full.

Snakes can be skinned and are bony so you boil them in a broth. You never ever grill snake meat. That way you get all the meat and it's easier on your teeth.

If you look in ponds where frogs are seen regularly, they lay a clutch of eggs that later will hatch and become tadpoles. That clutch is gelatinous and can be heated and eaten. It looks like clear jello with a bunch of eggs in sacks.

It's 47 degrees F now in London. You could fish in some places. In winter, if you had that solar light, you could tie a string around a tighly sealed jar with the light in it. And drop bait with the light. And the bigger fish are hungry and might strike on it and give you a meal you would not otherwise have. Whatever inedible guts from traps or hunting would be your bait as insects and worms will be scarce.

In nature, a feral cat or dog eats rodents. So the best way is to bait a meadow with a bucket mouse trap. Look it up. They fall in and drown. Then you got a meal for them. Just move the bucket around as you will harvest all the ones in an area quickly.

If this gets bad like I think it will, the people of the UK make it through winter but end up are weak and debilitated in the spring and there isn't much in the way of wild edibles until summer. That 3 month period will be rough. Everybody better garden just in like in WW2.

There are some meadow plants and samaras from maples and red bud pods and not much else as things are starting to grow again. The squirrels are weak and sickly, so check their livers for spots meaning disease. Don't eat them.

Big fish will be fiercely hungry and will strike on anything as the insect population is very low.

Your body is used to help from caffinated beverages and oatmeal and roughage and so when starving, your intestines shut down and it hurts your belly badly. Your gut motility is shot. You do not want to be in that situation as you are wekened and probably have scurvy and will pass blood.

Trapped food will cause methane release and bloat and hurts.

The USA exported $1.6 billion in agricultural products to the UK in 2019.
The USA exported $1.28 billion in agricultural products to France in 2017.
The USA exported $1.8 billion in agricutural products to Germany in 2017.

Get the picture?

Logistics will totally be snarled in the USA with a 2nd Civil War. We won't be able to feed our own urbanites, much less anywhere else.

Very interesting.

Please explain more. So fasting slows down gut motility and bacteria creates bloating? Food actually prevents this from happening? Is this fasting rage completely wrong in healing the gut? Fascinating. Thank you kindly for your guidance.

The mutant strain found in the UK is in Italy which likely means it is in France already as well.

What does caffeine do? It stimulates smooth muscle contraction which is why if you drink too much coffe you get diarrhea. Why? The job of the intestines is to recycle water. The kidneys controlblood pressure and so modulate thrist to get you to drink so you won't get hypovolemic (low blood volume) and hypotension (low blood pressure). The intestines absorb water through villi. Caffeine accelerates the process causing watery stools.

If a person has no caffeine, besides headaches, their bowel are upset as their gut motility returns to normal as the smoth muscle is no longer stimulated.

With reduced food, then it becomes harder and harder to pass a bowel movement as so little food is moving through the digestive system.

Say a patient has cancer. You never halt fluids, but when dying, sometimes people stop eating, first because losing bowel control and pain from obstruction from so little stimulation as they ingest little.

In a worse case starvation situation, the patients who are young will get kwaishiokor and the adults get marasmus. Their livers stop producing enzymes and so have gut leakage and cannot properly digest food. The kids will get distended bellies and it may be painful. The adults tend o look drawn and gaunt. They will probably have gut pain as well.

Simple fasting is not starvation.
