My understanding of the bible is much different from your typical christian because i wasnt raised in church. therefore i didnt get the corporate narrative and had to figure it out by simply reading the text. most of the time i talk to "christains" they have no idea what the bible actually says, which leads me to believe the corporate narrative has been an utter failure.

We dont get many of the details of how all of this unfolds but we do get the outline. everything i am about to explain is in scripture but i am just going to give you the outline to keep it streamlined...

It is simply our job to learn the ways God expects us to act towards him, and each other. But we are doing this for the NEXT life, not this one. Your position assume we are supposed to be "good" to make this earth better. Thats not true. God is filtering out all the ones who could possibly screw up the NEXT creation. He loves us as one of his greatest creations, so he wants to give us an opportunity to join him in enjoying in the next earth, forever.

The Golden Rule was an expression of the law which tried to impart that what you perceive is you.

All too often, however, people focus far more on the messenger than the message.

For example, in this thread you consider me an opponent and are focusing more on my supposed merits rather than the message that I propose which, it could be argued, is more functional than the Golden Rule in modern society.

Let's imagine that there was a document that was written in Language 1.

Over time, as this document became more popular, it was translated into language 2, 3, 4, and so on.

The thesis of the document is simple: "The cock clucks at three o'clock"

Over time, and as definitions and usage of words change, the message becomes corrupted. For example:

Language 2: "The cock cooks at three o'clock"

Language 2, year 200: "The cook looks at the clock at three"

Year 400: "The cucukoo clock tells the cook when to cook three cakes"

Language 5: "The clock cooks three cocks for supper"

By year 400, the original document has been lost or hidden.

Further, imagine that someone who speaks language 5 in the year 400 believes that the document is saying that three cocks are being cooked by the clock for supper. They believe this will all their heart because it has been that way for hundreds of years.

They would think that they know exactly what the document is saying, because even the 'original' says it in that language (or so they think).

But definitions change over time, don't they? Translations are not exact, either. Now imagine that inexact translations on one axis and changing definitions on an other axis. This is even before any parties get to the document to alter it for their own purposes.

The person waits for the clock to cook something and then... nothing. Meanwhile, they miss the actual meaning and get upset at any other interpretations and, thus, resist the original meaning with all their heart.
