It proves what most of us have known for over 40 years. Our system of government has been so corrupted that it is not even a shell of it's former self (the days when we actually did, to some small degree, live in a representative democracy.) It, again, proves that no congressman EVER reads legislation before voting on it; but rather, relies upon his donors or lobbyists to tell him whether to vote for or against....ESPECIALLY in light of the fact that it IS the LOBBYISTS and SPECIAL INTEREST groups who have been writing ALL non-military (and some of that too) legislation ("bills") for decades. And while the inept and appointed justices of the various higher courts have upheld the legislative branches giving OUR MONEY to foreign countries, foreign causes and corporations...THIS is something that is just another nail in our republics coffin.
And yes, while the entire system is corrupt, our political "leaders" (not statesmen) are simply put: CROOKS. They have become so corrupted by a corrupt system (that is rarely tested) that they, themselves, are beyond the pale. To the point, that the whole process is a sham...whether that is voting or a misplaced belief that we are truly represented.
I've preached for over 40 years on HOW to fix it. Most of you KNOW how to fix it (term-limits, end Citizen's United, end donations/PACS/contributions over $500.00, end corporate donations of any sort...and the list goes on). Regardless, none of those reforms will ever occur.
