Re: Jupiter and Saturn 4K Time Lapse

Here's my time lapse spanning the best 45 minutes of the Great Conjunction that I was able to observe. Played back at 15x, 30x, 60x and 120x realtime. If you watch the fastest versions of the video you can see the moons of Jupiter and Saturn moving through the frame. Each frame was automatically aligned on Jupiter and stacked in 0.5 second segments to make up the frames of the time lapse.

Thank you! So in essence, tiny Saturn meeting huge Jupiter, almost touching each other? WOW!!!

There's a certain beauty in watching Earth's family get together for Christmas.

Thank-you

Are Saturns rings the same color as Saturn or is that some kind of color filtration thing?

Re: Jupiter and Saturn 4K Time Lapse
That is so awesome to see!

Dumb question: why does Saturn look to be at a (roughly) 90 degree axis to earth's perspective?

I always thought...Neptune?... was the only planet spinning on a different axis than the rest of them.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78814829

Uranus and Neptune AFAIK.

Re: Jupiter and Saturn 4K Time Lapse
Your footage is incredible. I had more of the landscape and some time lapses around the Baltic Sea in Germany. Was pretty wild:

Re: Jupiter and Saturn 4K Time Lapse
See the 2 largest planets in our solar system with the beautiful crescent moon

The moon will rise just before the sun on Thursday morning. If you’re up early enough to see it, you’ll also see the two biggest planets in our solar system just above it.

The waning crescent moon will rise at 5:34 a.m. Thursday morning. The sun will rise at 7:12 a.m.

Look up and right from the moon and you’ll see the bright Jupiter, followed by the fainter, but still visible, Saturn.
