And whoever is doing it could well be american, wikileaks gave us proof that NSA/CIA can spoof IP addresses to make it look like a hack is coming from anywhere they want. That of course wouldn't mean it's not China, Russia, or whoever pulling the strings, it just means it doesn't even need to be some stooge behind a desk in Beijing/Shanghai doing the work...
