That's all it took.

Also, the connection of "fear and safety" has biblical implications, for those who are followers and/or believers. You could even extrapolate "sudden destruction" to what is happening in the world right now - economic collapse and the inability of religious people and institutions to gather... interesting when looking from a different/broader perspective. I am not a believer or follower, but there are many prophecies in the world, and far more outside that book than within it. Shit, 1984 didn't go far enough. Orwell was limited by the tech of his time. This is much worse. Oh, I know how bad it is. I was merely pointing out how many possible timelines seem to be coming together in the same place. We've been playing hunger games for quite sometime as well - really all of our existence - and that is about to go sideways with the continuation of the breakdown in supply chains that have been happening over the last year. There will, at some point, be a big enough disruption that will cause a major breakdown across various necessities that will expose just how fragile the system is, and it will cause a panic. Just hope we get through the winter before it happens, but don't count on it. I do not disagree with that.
