It would certainly halt the dilution of their dollar holdings from USA's firehouse deficit spending and inflate their gold holding's value. Davis was outed by USMC Major General Smedley Butler as being caught up in a scheme with J.P. Morgan to get the US onto a Gold Standard (The Business Plot). That explains the Democrat and RINO tendency to accept pork and insane deficit spending -- they are historically implicated as fiat dollar collapse accelerationists.

Now that's not to say I don't like sound money and wouldn't like our currency linked to some physical assets, but just the same, the Saudis do operate with lethal force in the USA with impunity.
