WTF ! 42 people in West Virginia mistakenly given Regeneron antibody treatment instead of the coronavirus vaccine

Over three dozen people were mistakenly given the Regeneron monoclonal antibody treatment instead of the Moderna vaccine, the West Virginia National Guard announced on Thursday

Forty-two people received the antibody product, intramuscularly, at a vaccination clinic hosted by staff at the Boone County Health Department. The treatment, which was given Food and Drug Administration emergency use authorization in November, is normally given as an intravenous infusion.

I guess it won't be harmful...but mistakes should not be made.

Designer antibodies could battle COVID-19 before vaccines arrive

Prevention, which would be a single intramuscular shot, requires less product than the intravenous infusions used in treatment, she notes, but the amount needed depends on a person’s weight.

Ever think the National Guard was trying to save some people from the horrendous side effects of the vaccine?

Any nurse or doctor knows this is bullshit story.

An order for medicine is put in computer including dosage as well as concentration of the medicine example like mg/ml and how many mg and ml to administer.

Ok so pharmacy distributes it in vial with bar code. The computer with the order is connected to the scanning wand. The vial is scanned prior to administering to each patient and will alert and not go forward if barcode does not match. Nurse verifies with her eyes tbe name and dosage on the vial and signs. Many medications require 2 nurse signatures fir safety. Im sure this one!

The computer requires lot numbers and all identifying information and expiration dates off-of the vial.

The fact they are going against recommendation to wait 90 days after to give vaccine second major mistake.

So is this a sneaky experiment?

They must want to know if people who already have antibodies to the virus is the cause of the adverse reactions?

My other thought is that they really did get the vaccine and this story that they got wrong drug is not true. Maybe they want to test to see what happens if people are given 2 doses close together???

Every state and county health authority has different rules and regulations as do hospitals and doctors offices. In many hospitals the regulations are set entirely by the administrators who only have to follow certain laws around certain heavily controlled medications and everything else is manually retrieved by a nurse or a doctor. There are wildly varying standards even with pharmacies. Mix-ups with medications, including injectables are quite common. A woman I knew for nearly thirty years died when a nurse mixed up an injectable medication and gave her the wrong shot.
