They are an invasive species and decimate the bird population. He can catch bugs and the stray mouse that get into your house. Quoting: GA Girl ah he's a big Tom cat, and we're in a rural area, more birds and assorted critters than he could ever put a dent in... he's got a cat door on the back door (one of those swinging ones he can jump through to come in and out as he pleases) i couldn't imagine trying to keep him inside, he patrols the entire vacinity, sometimes gone for entire days at a time out scouting/hunting/whatever cats do.. |

My cats rarely catch any birds. this one usually catches moles and small field mice... birds are rarish (though i can think of at least 1 instance in the last few months i've had to clean up mysterious piles of feathers in the house).. the owl, was a first!! oh lizards, he's caught a few lizards, he eats those pretty much completely as well! |

User ID: 78237830 South Africa 01/03/2021 04:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | he ate mostly the head... brought it to the front sidewalk Quoting: cryptic 71165537 later that day i noticed he was lethargic, and not eating like usually. then he proceeded to lay down on the stairs inside the house for 2 straight days, then, got up and used the restroom (incredibly stinky) in the house (he never uses the restroom inside unless he's sick) ... finally today he moved from the stairs to a spot on a couch.. slowly he started moving around a little bit this evening, ate, drank water... he's definitely getting better. i wonder what in the world in that owl made him so sick lol.. it's crazy because as soon as i realized he'd killed an owl and brought it up, that he'd messed up somehow rofl..(i know the esoteric value of the owl figure) (and cats aren't supposed to kill owls, usually goes the other way around)(owls are carnivores) lol it's funny because on my own life journey recently, i've "eaten an owl" so to speak.. I work in IT security,...and needless to say, lately i've had to learn some rather.. nefarious, new, types of exploits/subversions... (had to learn them to learn how to defend against them) (i'm white hat these days strictly) Why are you trying to make human esoteric symbolic interpretation apply also among animals? Who says cats aren't supposed to kill owls? And were you actually laughing when typing out your post? Because nothing about it was humorous. Have you been drinking? User ID: 78237830 South Africa 01/03/2021 05:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only time I had a cat that got sick after eating a bird was when the bird it had eaten had been poisoned. The cat died. Vet tried but couldn't save it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76288549 I had a cat get sick for several days after catching and eating a fence post lizard. That orange tabby turned green. Try a few sprinkles of activated charcoal into your cat's wet food, will help detoxify. So glad your cat survived, and is feeling better. |
