Groundhog Day , 1993 film, Mandela Effect - filming locations have completely changed

The only part filmed in Illinois was the snow-covered highway scenes.

They closed off the Amstutz Expressway in Waukegan which was a short stretch of highway that was supposed to go from Chicago to Milwaukee but was never finished.

Just the scene with the traffic jam in the bad weather was filmed in Illinois.

I was in Woodstock, Illinois in 2005.
Back then I already knew that parts of Groundhog Day were filmed there; our american hosts told us.
I took pictures of the gazebo in the park because of that fact.

I was in southwestern Pennsylvania in 1992

I saw the large filming equipment trucks in Butler PA

there were a lot of overhead wires on the main street through butler , so there were problems with the booms and cranes

I know the local side towns where some of the pickups were shot

I know the exact location of the aerial shot of the tv van as it drives a hilly ridge with snow in the background

I believe you regarding the ridge shots. That’s why I said “parts of”. The celebration scenes in the park with the gazebo are definitely filmed in Woodstock though.
