The San Francisco company said its daily user base rose 9% to 166 million in the three months ended March 31 from the quarter earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected the user count to rise to 163 million. Twitter posted a net loss of $8.4 million, from a net profit of $191 million a year ago. Analysts were expecting a loss of $16 million, according to FactSet.
