It’s a cult. Quasi-religious. Fuels wish fulfillment. It coopts everything it can use to grow itself. It squanders the energy of good people. And it’s been around so long that it is pervasive - it’s tendrils have infected most other topics.
We were all better off before it existed and we’ll probably never recover from it. It’s a snake that’s been planted at the core of the conspiracy theory movement.
