When I met him years ago we were worlds apart politically but still found common ground. Over the years I slowly brought him over to a more libertarian stance on a number of issues. The number one being 2A and responsible gun ownership. Covid hits. Riots. Blm. My buddy decides "enough is enough time to get a firearm." The process? In Illinois he FIRST had to apply for a FOID card... which he was not granted during the time they say, it took like 8 months and multiple contacts before finally processed. Then a background check, that everyone takes already. Then FINALLY after all that and a wait period.. he is a proud Glock owner. During his wait for his FOID card, there were something like 3k gun deaths in his city. Likely NONE of them from people who jumped through hoops to get a firearm like he did. Gun laws only punish people who follow laws. Thinking a gun law will stop gun crime is like thinking a car bomber won't park in a handicapped parking space. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. End Rant.
