Southland Tales - Religious Propaganda?

So I just saw the new movie Southland Tales, and it is wrought with pro Christian and Jewish overtones. Has anyone seen this film, and perhaps understood it? It was the biggest mess of a movie I've ever seen, but I was disturbed by these religious overtones and want to figure out just what the film was getting at.
