I am listening to Dan Harlin's hardcore history and he does a good analysis of the economics of war from the supply side but does not go into this. Good job. I read one of your other threads this morning and saw some of the push back you received - I do not think speculation is criminal and found your thoughts frighteningly possible... and a convenient excuse (blaming some enemy-du-jour, regardless of whether true or false) for either re-hypothecation of collateral OR nullification of debt OR both. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79470017 United States 01/15/2021 11:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | WAR is how countries file for and enforce bankruptcy protections. There is no worldwide Bankruptcy court or law. Accordingly, DEBTORS use war to seize the assets of Creditors in settlement of their debts and, conversely, CREDITORS use war to nullify their debts. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78772677 ALL “colonial” wars were merely Debtors seeking to rehypothecate their collateral. WWII was Germany’s attempt to nullify the unsupportable debts levied on them by the Treaty of Versailles. Money does not make the world go round – DEBT does. Even revolutions have at their core bad debt – the hoi polloi seek to throw off the shackles of debt and bondage placed upon them by the elite who have privatized any financial gains for themselves while socializing all their losses and bad bets onto the backs of the citizenry. If you buy my premise, take a look at this table: Rank #1 United States Debt to GDP 104.3% Debt $21,465 Trillion % of world wide debt 31.0% #2 Japan 237.1% $11,788 17.0% #3 China 50.6% $6,764 9.8% #4 Italy 132.2% $2,744 4.0% #5 France 98.4% $2,736 3.9% #6 United Kingdom 86.8% $2,455 3.5% #7 Germany 61.7% $2,438 3.5% NOW tell me we DON’T have war in our near future. Either the creditors of the world seeking to secure their collateral from their bad investments in U.S. debt OR the U.S. seeking to nullify their loans via destruction and chaos. And remember NONE of the wealthy elite will fight in these wars – they are vouchsafed by their ill- gotten gains – per Balzac, behind every great fortune there is a crime. One other thought for your consideration. Despite his many faults and (frankly refreshing) boorishness, Trump was the ONLY U.S. President who had personal (via his various pass-through entities) experience with the protections afforded by Bankruptcy law. Add this to his avoidance of entanglements in foreign wars and indeed draw down of troops abroad. Perhaps THAT adds to the vehemence with which his adversaries attacked him – he was interrupting their war machine profits. As General Smedley Butler wrote so long ago WAR IS A RACKET. It appears that there are only two paths before us: one path leads to despair and utter hopelessness (inflating away debt whereby the debt is fixed and paid back with “inflated” currency impoverishing the citizenry – by the way this ONLY works until your creditors catch on – see Zimbabwe for proof of that) and the other, to total extinction (I do not know with what weapons WWIII will be fought but I can tell you now, WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones), so let us pray that we have the wisdom to choose correctly. Thanks for reading this far if you have read this far… I think there is truth in this. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78395037 United States 01/15/2021 11:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Interesting take - didn’t Trump make some comment / allusion ( much earlier in his term) to bankrupting the US if necessary to cram down the US debt? Or maybe he meant to bankrupt our adversaries by deflating their US dollar assets (done by inflating the currency at home)? |
