If you are able to humble yourself and reach out to Jesus sincerely in prayer..

Go in your room when no one is around, then get on your knees and pray for Jesus to reveal Himself to you. Pour your heart out about everything. Don't do it halfhearted or with pride. Any of you can know Jesus if you seek diligently!

And just a side story: Many years ago I was very interested in the paranormal and learned a great deal about occult practices and things like astral projection, contacting spirits and the dead, etc. I know more about these things than most of the people here talking about them. I did so out of curiosity and naivety but what followed nearly destroyed me.

In short, I opened a door that I was unable to close on my own. That door was only closed when I renewed my faith in Jesus. I have seen what is beyond that door.

I only share all this because I don't want any of you to be stuck on the other side of that door (death) without Jesus.

One second there and you'd believe what I am saying 100%.

Now, if you really want to know God, do as I have told you and report back.

If the person did not exist, then that basically calls everything we think we know about history into question. Did Julius Caesar exist? How about Hammurabi? Charlemagne?

The historical evidence overwhelmingly points to Christ's existence, and more is being catalogued. For example, fringe deniers were very vocal about the non historicity of Pilot. They argued that proved Jesus couldn't have existed. Well, turned out Pilot was in fact governor of Judea during the life of Christ.

We also know the early church existed. They were quite passionate, too, because they were persecuted and hunted, and yet they continued to grow. It's rather difficult to believe that a contemporary movement could be started based on someone who didn't exist. That would be like saying Joseph Smith and L Ron Hubbard are fictional characters.

What confirms Jesus as a real person, and extraordinary, is His prophecy. Jesus prophesied that the temple would be destroyed completely, so that not one stone would be left upon another.

That came to pass in 70AD. When the Romans burned the temple, the gold in the temple was smelted, and it ran in between all the stones. Scavengers came in and pried the stones apart looking for this gold, so that the temple was razed completely from the foundations, to the last stone. So not only did the prophecy come true, it came true in a way that couldn't have been anticipated, and therefore wasn't self fulfilling.

He made another series of prophecies regarding the end times, and are becoming more apropos by the day. When asked by His followers what the signs of the end would be, He told them to watch for several things, two of which really stand out.

He said that nation would rise against nation. Now the word for nation that he used means nation in the sense of "the Cherokee nation." As in an ethnic group of people. In modern English, we mostly use it differently now, but the Greek word was ethnos, which is where we get ethnicity.

In other words, Jesus was predicting a race war. Which was absurd at that time. Racial hostilities didn't exist back then like they do today. We have Darwin to thank for that.

In ancient times, there was no such thing as racial superiority. In fact, kings made it their business to mix themselves and their people with as many other races as possible, because that was the quickest way to power back then. People didn't want to go to war with their in laws and cousins, so mixing it up ensured peace and cooperation, which meant power and money.

But in the 1800s, Darwin came out with the theory of evolution. And it was supposed that the various races were branches of the evolutionary tree, and that only one race could be the fittest, and therefore survive. The western world of course decided it was they who were the fittest, and therefore the most deserving of survival.

And that's why we have these racial tensions to this day, whereas we didn't in the ancient world. So again, that's something that could not have been anticipated or self fulfilling.

Another thing He said was that there would be earthquakes in diverse places. As we all know, there has not only been an exponential growth of earthquake activity in the 21st century, but there are earthquakes now even in places that haven't had them before. The magnitude is also increasing.

Something else is the rise of false christs. He said in the last days that many would come claiming to be Him. While this could be self fulfilling, it's an odd claim to make at the time. If He weren't for real, He wouldn't have much expectation that His cult would survive after His death. In the ancient world, many cult leaders came and went, and not many had any staying power after their deaths. Even those that persisted after the death of their leader, they lasted decades or maybe a few centuries at best, and nobody ever revived them by claiming to be the reincarnated leader. This is a phenomenon completely unique to Christianity, and unique to the late 20th century and especially the 21st century. Not only did these false christs come on the scene in modern times, they're constantly growing. The list of current false christs is too big to even get into here. There are probably at least hundreds, if not thousands, with respectable followings. Again, that's very unique, and something you don't see with other religions, even where an anticipated prophesied messiah is supposed to appear, such as the Mahdi in Islam. Like you don't see Buddhist cults all over the world each with its own Maytraya.

Now, as for why there are other deities in the ancient world that bear similarities to Christ? Because it was a type that goes back before the flood. Why do you think so many religions were able to spring up, all revolving around very similar theology? Because the most ancient prophecy in the Bible is in Genesis, and it goes like this:

"He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel "

That's God speaking to the serpent in the garden. Now there's a lot of debate about who the serpent was and what the garden was, so we won't even get into that because I don't know. No one does.

What's important is that the serpent and savior model goes back to some very ancient past that we no longer understand. Which is why all ancient religions are based on a chaos serpent and a savior who defeats him.

So the ancient world was full of false messiahs, all who claimed to be "the one" sent to defeat the serpent and free mankind from the curse of death. Let's just say he was much anticipated in the ancient world. Especially after the flood.

Things were still pretty good before the flood, mind you. People were living a long time, there probably wasn't disease to speak of, and the earth was likely very abundant. People likely didn't have to worry about such things as where their next meal was coming from.

After the flood, however, it's post apocalyptic. Their lifespans are cut into a third, they have to start eating animals because the variety of plants is no longer enough to sustain them nutritionally. The atmosphere has been damaged. There's less oxygen, and the air is thinner.

But they have a book, or perhaps an oral tradition, handed down to them from the survivors. And it foretells of a hero who will come to save them. People became more than ever fixated on the arrival of the messiah to come and save them from their suffering on this broken planet. And as people break off into different language groups, the serpent chaos monster and the virgin born savior get recast into hundreds of diverse gods and religious systems, which are ripe for the picking for those who want to make a quick buck and have no scruples.

So how do we know that Jesus is the genuine article and not just another imposter looking to make a buck? Again, His prophecy.

A Growing Number of Scholars Are Questioning the Historical Existence of Jesus

Historians have measures in terms of a burden of proof. If an author for instance is writing about a subject more than 100 years after it occurred, it isn’t considered valid. Another important metric is the validity of authorship. If the author cannot be clearly established, it makes the record far less reliable.

What we do have are lots of sources completed several decades after the fact, by authors of the gospels who wanted to promote the faith. The gospels themselves are contradictory. For instance, they tell competing Easter stories. Another problem, there aren’t any real names attached to many of them, but rather an apostle’s who “signed off” on the manuscript. There is also evidence that the gospels were heavily edited over the years.

Roman historians Josephus and Tacitus do make a few, scant remarks about his life. But that was a century after Jesus’s time. So they may have garnered their information from early Christians. And those threadbare accounts are controversial too, since the manuscripts had been altered over time by Christian scribes whose job it was to preserve them.
