The truth is that this country does have an open wound because of slavery and what happened to the Indians. And it's a conversation we need to have so that we can be at peace and move on.

Unfortunately the conversation has been dominated by those who want to rip out the stitches and pour salt in the wound.

The truth is that our country inherited slavery, it didnt invent it, but we did end it.

The Indian situation is more complicated. On one hand you have myths such as the "Trail of Tears". Our sick school system teaches the kids it was a death march. It wasn't. The death rate was minuscule.

Or the hoax of the chicken pox blankets. No proof of that at all.

On the other hand, we did steal their land and bring disease. Of course, what were we supposed to do? They were literally living in the stone age.

It's a grown up conversation for sure. Theres no feel good answer.

But there are over 5 million full blooded Indians living in America today, and millions more part-Indians. There are more indians in America today that at any time in the past. So it's not like we genocided them like the media says.
