A 51% hostile takeover is the only way to stop it... But this has been proven to be virtually impossible, and more by each passing day. And even then, we have enough full nodes that the community at large could easily choose to revert back before the blocks were stolen and follow a different chain of confirmations. Plus, if the bad actor wants to spend his stolen Bitcoin, it would need to be on the new “hostile” block chain that none of us would accept in perpetuity. And they would be stopping their own chance at profiting from Bitcoin by the mere fact that it would no longer be a trustless functioning block chain, where their stolen coins are located... But trust me when I say, there is no way to gain 51% control of our current framework of processing power. What’s behind the network is literally millions of individually controlled ASICs, pools or otherwise. There's. A. H0le. In. The. Sky. |

As soon as there is a penalty attached to it, such as jail time, people will flee from it and its value will plummet. I'm not predicting this will happen, but it seems silly to believe the U.S. government is incapable of having a dramatic effect on bitcoin if they really pursued all options. Time will tell as to how far they are willing to go. Articles posted do not necessarily reflect endorsement. |

User ID: 77200358 United States 01/19/2021 01:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Drugs are a very different situation. There are countless people willing to go to prison and/or die to be involved with drugs. How many bitcoin users are willing to go to prison or die to deal in bitcoin? Bitcoin is as valuable as it is now because it is relatively penalty free. Prison time would change that fast. There would be some who would hang on regardless, but not enough to stop the plummet which would soon follow. Again, I'm not predicting this will happen. Just pointing out they have the capability if they were willing to go that far. Given how corrupt they are, and how much the mask has slipped, it's not unthinkable. Come on man They just need to make transactions illegal and the public moves away, Bitcoin becomes a product of the criminal underworld, trades move to compete with the same segment of criminal money laundering. The network may be resilient, but the conversion into dollars is totally objectionable, easy and easy. Without the general public to inject dollars into Tether, the price of Bitcoin goes to zero very quickly. |

They will track every transaction from every device. If you think this is not the agenda then what do you think is? They will make it so crypto they don't approve of can only be used to buy what they deem illegal. And then it's a trap. How do cryptos survive this global take over if they get away with it? LOL. If they ban gold/silver, ammo/guns, food/medicine, etc there will be black markets because the physical good can still be exchanged. How do you move crypto without a wallet? How does blockchain tech work in a black market? It doesn't. And this isn't about crime. It's about calling in an instrument that is immune from being debased by the central banks.
