It was about 2 A.M. I parked legally off the paved road at an overview of the city below. I do not use drugs nor alcohol. I was sitting on a folding chair next to my car. I am old with a long white beard. After a shirt time, a cop car drove by. He asked if I was OK. I made the "OK" sign with my hand and smiled the best I could under the circumstances. Then he asked me again and I did the same. Don't need your help, see ya type thing. Then he asked what I was doing there, and I really had nothing to say to a cop. He called for backup. I was lit up like a Christmas tree. But I never showed them any ID. I never left my chair. They left. I can definitely see how a younger, inexperienced person in America could inadvertently let these creatures run right over them. Something about the abuse of hospitality, if I can put it that way. most people are not remembered by history for their virtue, but rather by what they have written. |
