Re: No Alcohol it's time
Personally, I fell to my knees and prayed for help to quit the drinking.

Something wild happened.

Now having 2 beers makes me feel sick.

Once in a while I'll still try to have a couple, then remember the good effects I used to get from it vanished.

Amen brother! It flat works. I know that many doubt the power of God but I have met many addicts who were healed of their addictions ONLY through prayer! The changes in these people is a flat miracle. Rehab did nothing for them, their families gave up on them, even some lost teeth. But you should see them now! And they don't want to use again. That's the best part - no craving at all.

I have the strangest connection to these people. It is strange because I have never used drugs. But God has put it in my heart to help as many as I can to overcome addiction.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards,

Hardest bit done. 10 days and your system is clear!

You sure? Man I hope so.

What does 10 days and my system is clear mean? Like no trace of alcohol at all in my bloodstream?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80006972

Apparently after 10 days all the alcohol and related toxins are out of your system. Then its just a mind game....

Any tips for the mind game part?

Exercise, read, cook etc. A few AF beers if desperate. For me it’s the problem of sleeping - Melatonin is helping shot term.

That's the same issues I have when it's time for sleep,I'm great until it's time to sleep. Work has kept me busy as of late which is good . But my trigger time has moved to about 9 pm then I want my drink on.. I have still been giving in
It's like a dark looming storm you knows coming. I think about why and How to stop many times a day. And I do feel like a utter failure with all this. I do not have the thoughts I use to have- about enjoying a few drinks it isn't enjoyable anymore

The best tip, if you are confident enough in yourself, is to say 'at day 14 I can go to the pub for ONE pint'...and then selfmoderate after that. Since OP's quest began I've cut my drinking by more then a half and feel just fine.

Lol at some comments.. Anyways like I said the insomnia is the hardest thing to overcome. After tossing and turning im up 5am.. Anyways I feel better not sleep than waking with a hangoverish feeling at 8am.

So it's my goal everyday to exhaust my body with physical work. My hopes by 9pm or so I'll be so tired I just fall asleep. So I'm sippin on some pre workout about to head down to the gym for fun and games. I have prayers for anyone out there struggling.

I found out yesterday old friend a drinking buddy passed he was 44. He keep up with me on the drinking, I know he smoked some pot and I did catch him once smoking meth. He was a great guy would do anything for anyone without question.

I guess in the end the hardest decision the hardest to achieve, is the one that will have the greatest outcome.

Re: No Alcohol it's time
So it's been a very long few months, but I believe I have rounded the corner.. 5 days no drinks and no want
It was almost like a switch, the want and reasons for drinking seem to have faded.

I replaced my evening drinks with soda water, instead of reading the news in the evenings or playing clash.
I have started watching movies. The final straw was about2 weeks back when I had a close call this seemed to be my wake up call. Happy good Friday all and I hope we can all make this journey.

Replacement behavior. DO NOT QUIT. Replace. mental inertia is a very powerful controlling factor in consciousness. Divert your alcohol consumption kinetics with something else you like (or will learn to like).

~14 years at zero consumption. Don't think about it so I don't know, don't miss it.
