Maybe the thread to keep track of the days and how life changes. I will post daily. The afternoon usely gets me long exhausting day always makes me want a drink, and it helps with sleep Quoting: CDC ATL My father used that excuse too! And it killed him! But he was right. I started having sleep issues in my 50's too. It was BAD too. I would stay up thinking for hours and would be so tired! I had neve been a drinker ever! Never liked the stuff. So, I did what others do, asked my doctor. Boy, did he give me nothing to help with it! When I brought up smoking weed like I had used to do so I could relax even though I have been off it for years---he said, 'you would have to go to another doctor for that'. So I did. Even though I take a few before bed, it's still really hard to sleep. So I can relate to what your saying. But alcohol is poison. It is. My father died of congestive heart failure. He always drank beer and whiskey. Found out he was still drinking in whiskey in his 80's. Just pray and be careful what you do brother. It really doesnt help me sleep right away it takes a few hours and then it hits. But I feel the same. Laying in bed hrs on end or trying to find a movie on tv,mind just keeps going solving problems I will say I even had this at 16 staying up till 2 or 3 watching adult swim Last Edited by CDC ATL on 01/22/2021 06:50 PM Nothing will change, unless something changes |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79923263 United States 01/22/2021 06:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I used to drink a lot. Bottle of vodka for breakfast, 2-3 bottles of wine for lunch and at least a 12 pack of beer for dinner, every day for almost a decade. I prayed the most sincere prayer I’ve ever prayed, I pleaded with God to remove my addiction, it’s been almost 2 years since that day and I haven’t had a sip of alcohol. My cravings went away 100%. I just do not want it anymore. Quoting: WalkingMiracle (LSDMTHC) Good luck OP. Wow, I am so happy for you. God bless. You offer me hope. I drink om average 12 x 473 ml. cans every day, and a pack of King size cigarettes (25`s). My eating habits are late at night. I take milkthisle daily for my liver. I have been drinking for about 35 years, and its gotten to this point the last 10. Its time, I might still have a few years left. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76411393 United States 01/22/2021 06:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's not too bad. I drank pretty much every day for 10 years. Rarely did I get DRUNK but I certainly drank my fair share. I cut it out by choice I guess. An easy way is to just stop buying it from the store and bringing it home. I know it's easier said than done but for me it was like I wouldn't really think about having a beer until seeing it in my fridge, so I just stopped buying it. Now I'll have a drink or two every few weeks and that's about all I'll need. Usually when I'm out with someone at a restaurant I'll have one or two, but never at home and I still rarely think about drinking. I don't see any health benefits of doing so yet, but it's only been a year or so. Maybe less of a "beer gut" but other than that I feel and look about the same. Probably a lot of health benefits that I don't see or notice I guess. Good luck!! |

It really gets outta hand quick.. I tried changing to wine years ago but always went back to the hard stuff. I'm not sure the bodies limit but I'm starting to think I was approaching that. Starting to get some chest pains in the morning and a skin condition in the corner of my eyes , and on the back of my head.. Really think all that will clear up after a few weeks For those heavy drinkers word of advice stay on a cycle support (like for steroids) my liver values went up slightly 2 years running, but adding that daily they returned to normal the next check. Take milkthisle for your liver. I swear by it. I feel a flare up, I will start a routine of 3-4 caps daily and I get relief. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79939388 United States 01/22/2021 07:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good Luck Op! Quoting: TrufSerumX You will find that quitting alcohol EVERYTHING in your life will get better. I had a long relationship with Alcohol and it never brought me anything good. There was never a Sunday morning that I woke up hungover and a hundred dollars less rich after a night out with my buddies were I said "man that was so awesome I wish I could do that again." No. It always was "ugh my head is killing me why did I drink that much?" or "I said what? To who?" Quitting Alcohol, while a personal choice, is one I personally believe made my life way better. I became a better father, husband, friend, and all around person. Prayers your way op! Now if you could only quit GLP.... |

Popped Tylenol everyday 3 at a time pain pills mixed in never drank much of anything but alcohol. Quoting: CDC ATL There was never any sign things where going downhill till his 40s. Really the only thing that comes to mind was reddish utine. It's started out as kidneys not functioning correctly liver damage, Then heart disease.. The last time was his body not getting rid of carbon dioxide.. So we talked him into a c pap I believe I left out somethings But maybe that's why I'm always looking for signs You are wise to look for signs. Not trying to insert myself into your business, but in my opinion it shows you care as well. You sense your mortality and you realize that maybe you'd like to stay for a bit and be healthy as well. When we live to witness what impact the choices others make have on themselves, it gives us perspective. Seeing those we care for dealing with the repercussions of choice is an eye-opener. I've known a lot of people who live and party like there is no tomorrow. They say things like how they are going to die young, burn bright and fast, live for today. While this is true, most of these people never mean this. When the piper comes to collect his due, they are never ready. I watched multiple family members live this way. The fortunate ones lived long enough to release their fear and go in peace. The unfortunate ones did not have that chance. I don't want one of my nieces, cousins, siblings to remember me like this. I want to be alive to teach them the lesson, not have my death serve as the reminder for what could have been. Sorry OP, not trying to neg your thread. This topic hits home for me and I don't often find topics worth engaging with these days. You said it far better than I ever could.. That's what I really don't understand seeing it before ones eyes, you would think lessons learned. Don't follow that same path. But it's all I can do not to go pour one now, just to get some sleep or that's what I tell myself knowing id be pouring a few more before passing out. Try relaxation sounds, me personally I choose Thunder and rain storms. |

Now after another 15 years I still love beer.. a lot, but i try to keep my vice under control (i can be a 6 litres-per-day person when i'm upset or depressed). One day an emergency room doc told my brother that if he took one more drink, he'd die. Liver was damaged. My husband died from it.
