Yeah, this is just being put into a holding pattern since they were landing at an international airport. When they land at a military base they can get special priority plus the base will simply have any normal traffic suspended because, well, it's the Commander in Chief.

But when they land at a civilian airport, they still get a certain priority status but there might be commercial flights whose fuel status gives them a higher priority. So they still have to wait in line, usually not as long as everyone else, but still, they can't just go in and land straight away like at a military base.

If there had been some sort of attack, it would have been a much, much more erratic change in the flight path and then they absolutely would have landed at a military base. No way after an attack on the CiC would they land at a civilian airport.

I was just mentioning in another thread that an E6 made a square pattern in JAX FL, which is weird, and almost seems like all transponders are turned off now in FL.

Just curious why Trump is still flying in AF1 is he's no longer president. Is this normal protocol?

this is on inauguration day. i was reading a thread (that was mentioned above), figured i'd better post this before i forgot.

He's not, this is from the morning of the 20th. Air Force One, or at least the plane that is used for it it is only called that when POTUS is aboard, is back at Joint Base Andrews.
