R.I.P. my favourite local restaurant killed by COVID government restrictions.
Saddened and angered that my favourite restaurant/ bar closed down today.
The place had been open for 25 years, 2 level restaurant with side street patio and rooftop patio, 2 pool tables, traditional Canadian cuisine and delicious Indian food on the menu, big portions and very reasonable prices on both the food and drink. 2 brothers from India bought the building 25 years ago and ran a great gathering place, superb friendly pleasant staff, total casual atmosphere, met some good friends there and enjoyed many meals over the past 10 years.
It was a great gathering place for people of all ages, families, kids, etc, some had been clients for decades.
When the lockdowns of restaurants started in early spring, the 2 brothers invested over $80,000.00 doing a great renovation of the place, really nice job, and still kept the same menu and drink prices when they reopened in early June.
The government capacity restrictions in the summer really took a toll on the business, then came the fall and even tighter restrictions were enforced, and for the past 3 months were only allowed to be open for takeout.
This past Friday, they decided to close down the business for good, I can’t blame them since I bet our government will justify keeping restaurants closed except for takeout all winter long.

Don't worry, some government official's POS nephew will come in and buy the property for pennies on the dollar.

Possibly.

25 years open, and the government killed it in one year.

I wonder how many more there actually are? If we still had those things called "news reporters" or "local paper" someone might write an article about the figures and facts. Miss those. Sorry for them and you.

I read an article back in late summer, that over 140 restaurants had closes in the city because of COVID govt. rules, one restaurant in Little Italy had been open for 55 years!
Many on the list had been open for decades as well, such a shame.
Thanks for your kind words.

Here is a link to the article with the list of closed restaurants.

It was always written that the only way to take down the USA was to destroy the middle class. "Covid" did that.

I live and work in a commercial/ industrial building, the place is huge 3 floors and takes up a city block.
Many units are now vacant since this COVID started, some good people just couldn’t afford to stay open anymore.
One gal had a woman’s boxing and self defence gym in here for over 15 years, she had to close, her rent was $8000.00 an month, and yet no one was allowed to use the gym because of govt. restrictions.
Shame.

Maybe if the gov't wasn't cooking up viruses and releasing them on us we wouldn't have this problem.

Sounds like the owners should have:

1) learned a trade instead of going to college

2) pulled themselves up by their bootstraps

Yea that is sad. I’m one of those kind of people where when they manufacture and release a bioweapon on us, I think they should close the borders and everyone should wear masks and get the vaccine IF THEY WANT. Restrictions should never be allowed on businesses, essential or not. Let people make their own dumb or smart decisions.

Lol. It’s a shit show here, so many places closing, sure some are getting loans, but who knows how long the government is going to keep this draconian grip on people and businesses.
