Re: Best concert ever
Hmmmm...I’ve seen .38 Special, Rush, Genesis, The Who, The Grateful Dead (18 times) U2, Pink Floyd, Boston, Sting, Marc Cohn, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Our Lady Peace, the Bodeans, The Tragically Hip, John Mellencamp, Sponge, Ned‘s Atomic Dustbin, Buffalo Tom, Bruce Hornsby, Bob Weir, Jerry Garcia, Blues Traveler, Collective Soul, Live, Vertical Horizon, Big Head Todd, Counting Crows, Huey Lewis, Dave Mathews, Goo Goo Dolls, Gin Blossoms, Steely Dan, Tom Petty...some of these bands multiple times and likely some I forgot to mention...

But best show was U2 in May of 1987 at the Brydon Byrne Arena in NJ.

Wow - well done.

Has anyone else kept their "ticket masters" stubs?
 Quoting: here&back

Lol..thanks..great thread and yes, I have about 15 or so stubs from concerts over the years. You do wonder if live concerts are a thing of the past with a fake covid crap. They are insane enough to destroy everything for power.

That said, all the concerts ranged for good to great..most great.
 Quoting: Fugazi World

Yep, loved it - had a GREAT time.
Have an 18 year old now that I don't think will ever get to do what we did.

U2 - ZooTV tour, Saratoga, NY 1992 - before U2 went soft... ZooTv tour and its symbolism was 20 years ahead of its time.

Stone Temple Pilots - Orpheum Theatre, Boston, 2002

Scott Wieland was as good as a rock n roll front man as there ever was... until he went totally off the rails.

Re: Best concert ever
Saw the Clash on their first West Coast show at the Berkeley Community theater in 1979. Bo Diddley opened. They tore the place up.

UFO (with Schenker) opened for Rush, 1978. UFO slayed Rush that night.

Saw KISS on the Kiss Alive tour. They nearly burned down the Oakland Auditorium. Bob Seger opened for Kiss. He was amazing.

I used to see the Tubes all the time in the Bay Area in high school. They always put on a great live show.

But I've seen lesser known artists play some amazing live sets.

Mink DeVille was incredible.

Saw Bruce Cockburn at a roadhouse in Mass in 84. He kind of blew me away.

MuteMath SXSW 2007.

Siouxsie and The Banshees circa 1980, I-Beam, SF.

But maybe the best was U2, one of their first shows in the US on the "Boy" tour. They were amazing. About as close to religion as you could get with Rock.

Shame what happened later.

I've been lucky - got to see Pink Floyd twice, four Roger Waters solo sows, and three David Gilmour solo shows.

Each was the best show I had ever seen :)

Couple years ago at Bonnaroo I saw MUSE and was pretty damn impressed.

I love all Muse songs especially this one where they trick you into thinking they are saying "thought contagion" but they are really saying "fucking satan". Been six front row concerts for that album and saw Bellamy mouth the words. And what are the odds it has demons at that point in the video.

Saw the POLICE
Saw Pink Floyd in 88 - FANTASTIC.
Saw the Dead several times - always great!
Saw the WHO in the 90's (can't remember the year)

What's your best concert you ever saw?
Not likely to happen again . . .
 Quoting: here&back

I saw Pink Floyd Animals tour in Cleveland Stadium in 82.
I saw the Stones in Cleveland in 78. (with Kansas and Peter Tosh)
Saw them in Cincinnati in the 80's too.
I saw Zeppelin in Cincinnati Riverfront stadium in 77.
I was at the infamous Who concert in Cincinnati in 79.
I saw Who before that in Cincinnati in 75. And saw them again in Lexington in 84.

I have seen Rod Stewart with Faces. (Ronnie Woods on guitar, Kenny Jones on Drums) back in 74. Killer band.

I saw Yes, Jethro Tull multiple times in the 70s. (These bands were great in concert back then).
I saw Black Sabbath.
I saw Styx in Dayton Ohio.

I saw Greg Allman play solo acoustic in a small hall (Bogarts)

I saw reggae legend Jimmy Cliff there, went back stage and met him because I was with an African buddy who knew him.

I saw the Electric Light Orchestra play with clear acrylic instruments that they bounced Lasers through.

Iron Maiden 80-81-82-83-84-85-87-2006 - Best concerts ever

Metallica - Wasp - Merciful Fate 1985? i think...was a great show...before metallica went soft.

Pink Floyd 87
van halen 84 and 85
solo david lee after he left

Motley crue several times in the 80's
Tons of other metal bands in the 80's

of note...watching def leppard getting booed headlining, after Krokus blew them away as the opener.

Watching quiet riot get told to get off the stage so the Scorpions could start.

Watching poison later 80's and realizing just how fucking awful they were. Especially the guitar solo...bad bad bad.

Kiss with make-up and then right after they took it off...much better with. LOL

Pink floyd and the floating pig...amazing show.

Several thrash concerts, slayer and others.

--correction Zeppelin was not in Riverfront Stadium, they were in Riverfront Coliseum (where the Who tragedy happened). They had a policy back then...opened arena with no assigned seats, and they didn't open the doors up until about an hour before the show. I remember the crush of people trying to get into that show and my buddy telling me 'dude..my feet are not on the ground right now'.

It was really dangerous. and that was two years before the Who tragedy. (I had no problem getting into that one, but did see the bodies on the ground covered with blankets...didn't know what had happened until the show was over).

I always felt the people who ran the city should have been charged with a crime for the way that they let that shit operate...

I saw others back then too....

Jackson Browne. Kiss, etc. concerts and weed were both cheap in the 70s
