mRNA is no f***ing operating system. If anything, DNA codes the operating system. The "m" in mRNA stands for messinger. That is all it is - a messanger with orders to ribosome to construct a protein.

Lot of gene expression is controlled via mRNA-s... if a function (protein) is needed, the messinger is sent out. If some function needs to be turned off: no more messingers are sent out and those messingers sent out are shot on the way(mRNA degraded).
