Gamestop is a failing company, and the stock is worth about $10 a share. Millions of Redditors started buying the stock and in the past 3-5 days the stock is now worth $347.51 and may go to $5000 a share or more in a few more days.
The hedge fund companies will have to buy the borrowed shares at the high price to pay back their bets. This will drive the price of the shares even higher.
The hedge fund companies go bankrupt and the Redditors become rich.
Billions of dollars will change hands.
Something like that.
Of course, the govt & the hedge fund companies may pull the rug out from under the Redditors).

The Redditors become rich when they sell their shares of GME stock at the super inflated price. Then the GME stock will be back at around $10 a share. It's just like gambling.
