Grateful Dead: History and Evolution of the "Rhythm Devils"
Dave Lemieux talks about the transformation of second-set drum interludes, and how "Drumz" became "Rhythm Devils."

Fascinating stuff, for those who care:

Apt title for the dead, formerly named "the warlocks"

Jerry was a military asset, as was most of the hippie movement

Dave McGowen blew that whistle in his essay entitled "The Mostly True Story of Laurel Canyon", or something like that.

He was quite the researcher. Died of a heart attack. just a coincidence of course.

Yes, the hippie movement was fomented by the intelligence agencies, but if you're trying to isolate Jerry Garcia as an asset you are-- in my opinion-- sorely misinformed.

If you want to point fingers, Bobby and Mickey have both, allegedly, attended Bohemian Grove during the twenty-first century.

Did the Grateful Dead play a role in the Peace Movement and drug culture, and the "drop out" gestalt of society who saw the government as coercive and evil? Absolutely. But to single out Jerry Garcia as a "military asset" is pretty laughable. In my opinion, of course.

I forgot, this is GLP.

Everyone has a conspiracy here for everything.

The Grateful Dead, whatever else you wanna say, made some pretty amazing (and sometimes amazingly bad, in the 1980s) music. Music which has withstood the test of time.

If you don't like it, that's fine. Go ahead and spin your wheels railing on them in this thread. All you're really doing is bumping it, giving them more exposure

Bro, ALL them dudes were in some kinda trouble and made deals w it...Terrence McKenna, Tim Leary, Jerry...

They did what they were told but always chafed at the bit in their mouths...

That's how the complex keeps things going...otherwise there might have been meaningful change coming out of the dead head movement instead of just a bunch of drug addled drop outs...

I know by research and experience this is the game...

Bobby at al...you think Jerry didn't know about Bohemian Grove? Shit, Hunter Thompson was running snuff films there...these prople were hopeless godless satanic sellouts. Sorry to break it to you.

The musiv you "love" is mostly a distraction from the truth of the Divine and Jesus Christ...

Interesting that both Marley and Bob Dhlan converted to Christ

The Laurel Canyon/Hippie movement psyop was real, I will grant you that. As far as the Grateful Dead are concerned, I'm glad they made all the music they did; that they woke people up to things more important than money, and endless wars, and lies.

I'm not saying you are wrong, about the infiltration of the hippie movement and the drug culture, but I can appreciate music for music's sake, and I'm sorry if you can't do that on a personal level, everything else aside.

Best of luck to you hf

My turn:
bert-facepalm

Poor Jimmy Hendrix...another dude e military connections and a handler who killed him in the end...

Not saying there isn't some interesting art there, but at what cost?

Was it worth it? Is it optimal to make music while intoxicated? To just become a channel for demons? Why do you think Zeppelin hasn't reunited? Look into it. They crossed a high level satanic priest playing the game

I can't listen anymore to this brand of "art"... there is no freedom and beauty, really...

That's why so many died young

My answer: Yes

Life is short. Great music is truly rare, and one of the best things in this existence.

Thanks for the bump! hf
