I know. I have been fortunate to live in just about every strata of society. I grew up well above average and went to all private schooling. My best friends from high school are CEOs, CFOs, and the like. I broke away from that life and did not want to sacrifice things just for that lifestyle. So I went my own way in college and lived by myself in a very rough neighborhood (I learned all the street names for all the drugs). I worked my ass off to pay the rent on one of the crummiest apartments available, and I hated every second of it.

After renting for decades, I hated that I essentially through away $150,000-$200,000 that I could have been putting toward mortgage payments and had a home paid off. So I finally did get myself into a situation to buy a home, and we did get a really good deal on it.

Problem is all this covid crap just happened during this refinance and it's a perfect storm of financial crises. I feel like a whack-a-mole where I finally stick my head out of the hole only to get smacked right back down. I have spent my entire adult life being extremely frugal and financially prudent. So it's doubly annoying and frustrating to me when all of this stuff happens at once.

Yes... my ex lost his job just as his refi was closing, and it did not stop it from closing. He got another job soon after.

It is about the ability to pay, and a track record of doing so.

Feeling pretty comfy at the moment, just watching the world crumble. Family is a little stressed they can't go out and do shit, but other than that, everything is pretty peachy.

Thought it was coming in 2008, was only a few years early. Waiting for the final blow to strike, the massive simultaneous collapse of all the stock indexes.

We are very smart with our money. We started right out of the gate. Had used cars and furniture for years...bought a small starter home. Put alot of sweat equity. Sold made double. Bought and sold a few times over (always making money) started a corp....banked everything in corp acct ( its taxed cheaper) lived on basic allowed income before taxed higher. Thus sheltering our business income
..living on little. Saving alot. We also get full child benefits because of this selfcontrol. I work full time in a management position and also make good money. We also a few times over did good in the stock market .... we dont go on oversea vactions...we dont have "toys" and even our current residence. Although now a active farm. We bought bottom of our price range.

This all said. Husband hasnt hardly worked for a year in our corp. The industry just went hush. We havent once had to accept any governmemt money thankfully....dont want nothing to do with any relief money for covid with all its strings attached.
Weve been living off the corp account. Paying husband same amount all year as priors. But that money is quickly dwindling with no new income coming in. Im still working but about half the normal amount. And only other income we have coming in is our rental...and at any moment we could lose our tenants too due to economy.

So even doing everything right. Living within means for 17+ married years. Excellent credit....a decent amount saved in bank. A sizeable amount in rsg and gics. ( cant touch them)

I am for the first time starting too see on the horizon how we may start to get into trouble. The savings will run out...our bills will keep coming. We are thankfully quite self sufficient on our farm. But honestly it could disappear fast if we couldnt pay our bills.

We are still probably a good few years away from cracking into any retirement savings. But if things continue exactly how the are now...or worst get worst. We could easily lose it all in such a short time compared to how long it took to build it.

As bad and bleak as things look and feel now, my advice is to savor it, find ways to enjoy the time.

Once they get the great reset into full gear, start gun confiscation and putting people into camps, we will all be wishing it was still January. We will all, world wide will be living through Schindler’s List.

I haven't heard anything about owners saying that players have to take a pay cut.

I haven't heard of athletes stepping forward to say they're donating a portion of their millions to local small businesses to keep them from going under.

Passed the breaking point awhile ago. Feel sorry for my kids. I'm never home or there for them and I am a single parent. We're fortunate. Money is not the issue, we keep the bills paid (and no, misogynist types, their dad does not help). It's my profession. People are crazy. I stopped taking new clients but they are begging on a daily basis and I cannot physically do more.
I do work a lot on barter which has been awesome..food, household and automotive repairs, landscaping, help with chores are all good but time is the problem. 80 hours a week some weeks and I am old.

But also I feel a moral obligation to my community to do what I can. The problem is, everyone is so overwhelmed.
Just.so.fucking.tired.

Emotionally I am not doing well. I have a well paying stable job but they keep asking for more of me. It greatly concerns me that I am expected to not only fulfill the duties I was hired for but make good on the added responsibilities now. Is everyone else experiencing this? My employer fired the janitor and now wants me to empty garbages....

The "essential workers" are hit the hardest with this. They are essential enough for extra work, but apparently not essential enough for extra pay.
