I think it’s funny how everyone thinks this won’t pass. Or that is it does, they won’t comply. Like this would be the catalyst for an uprising. “From my cold dead hands”!!!! Hahahah Yeah, I’ve heard this all before. Anyone here from Cali? It’s already happened here. Lots of bitching and moaning, but no uprising. No NRA coming to save us. When will you all learn that they will do whatever they want and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them? They’ll pass this, and sure, some people won’t comply. Some will go to jail, some will hide their guns or claim they lost them in a “boating accident”.... but every year, more and more will comply, get scared because they know a guy that got arrested and in a few short years, it’ll be what it is. Death from a thousand paper cuts. We’ll all just accept it. Just like we all except background checks, bans on full autos, suppressors, stripping felons of their right to protect themselves, and all the other gun laws that have come over the last 50+ years. “Shall not be infringed” yeah right. They’ve been infringing for decades and the best we can do is get the ATF to drop their ban on arm braces for AR’s.

If you don't like guns don't own one. But you are not going to take my natural rights just to please yourself. It's the same with anything, only a pig would try to strip rights away from others in order to satisffy their own twisted ideology and vision of utopia. That's what hitler did, as well as stalin, lenin, mao, ect.
 Quoting: diffy451

It should have been codified into our law, that to even propose a firearm law would result in capital punishment. If you think about it honestly, all firearm laws are incremental advances towards realizing their criminal conspiracy to overthrow our government (We the People)

I know they (the founders) expected us to cleanse our nation of tyrants every now and then, but it didn't work out that way, and since WW2 we got infiltrated by the Nazis and the communists... There should be a special branch of the military devoted to this stewardship, independent of oversight and prosecution. Die hard patriots by invitation only. Probably never happen, but lets be honest with ourselves, those of us who believed and supported the Q bullcrap, that's exactly what we wanted.

Blue doesn't necessarily mean that they want guns taken away, either - Here's a survey from UTexas: [link to texaspolitics.utexas.edu]

There's still a good number of suburban and rural democrats who think that gun control laws should be less strict, or stay the same.

The most notable thing is that it's most sharply divided by race, rather than political parties.

I call bullshit. This proposed law is NOTHING like the California gun laws. You don't need psychological exams and pay $800. Many older California guns that people hold are not registered. The new ones are.

Spot on. A family member and their partner, both who were rabidly anti-gun, suddenly took classes and obtained carry permits. They wouldn't DARE tell the other family members who they argued with for 20 years about how bad guns are, but we found out thru other methods. Can't wait to throw that one in their faces.

Re: H.R.127: Firearm Licensing and Registration Act
Ugh.

I wonder if there's a cultural bias towards self-reliance that steers people towards gun ownership.

The researchers found support for all forms of gun control is stronger among Latinos and blacks than whites.

For example, 74 percent of blacks and 61 percent of Latinos, but only 55 percent of whites support an assault weapons ban.

Similarly, 86 percent of blacks and 78 percent of Latinos, but only 62 percent of whites support the creation of a federal database that tracks sales of firearms.

Fear of crime, such as being afraid to walk in the neighborhood after dark, has no effect on gun control preferences for any group, according to the report.

“This suggests that perceptions of danger and concerns about the likelihood of becoming a victim are not a key driver of gun policy preferences,” Filindra said. “There is some evidence that experience with criminal victimization dampens support for gun control among African-Americans, but not the other two groups.”
