Being against gun registration is a bipartisan issue - The only ones that benefit from it are criminals.

The average Texan has the benefit of a criminal being aware that there's a fairly high chance of being shot if they break into an occupied home.

Making it public who does or doesn't have a gun means that people who defend themselves with an unregistered gun in their own home then become criminals - It invalidates castle doctrine.
