Orlando probably too touristy; Miami, spendy and too many blue hairs; St. Pete, don't know anything about?

AVOID at all costs!!! Move to Clearwater or New Port Richey instead.

We're looking for a place that's not too touristy; minimal homeless; not affluent, but not downtrodden either. These are just some of the criteria to get started with.

What are you looking for? If you have kidlets, what age range, homeschool options etc.

I absolutely would not recommend Punta Gorda unless you are over 65. There is absolutely nothing to do and you are going to drive to Ft.Myers/Naples or Sarasota for any type of entertainment. Naples and Sarasota are both pricey... beautiful beaches. Lakeland seems to be a hotspot right now.....easy 90 minute drive to both coasts but really nothing to do there either. Vero beaches are beautiful but also an older community where you will drive for entertainment.

Some areas are overrun by the 65+ crowd, the Central America crowd and from Oct-March the snowbirds which takes you an hour longer to go anywhere. And yes we have our Florida cracker rednecks.

There are beautiful rivers to kayak and national parks to explore the further north you go in Florida.

You can also take your luck on which area is the least likely to get walloped by a hurricane. So upper inland Florida-east of Gainesville but Irma showed us they can take out the whole state.

I would leave if we could afford it but we're stuck for now and thankful my kiddo can go to school and sports and eat out and not be trapped. So pros and cons.

1. Don't come here, if you are going to even consider voting D. Florida Man WILL let you know you are 'unwelcome' if you try that shit here.

2. Your Realtor is trying to hose you on inflated housing prices. Melbourne and Palm Bay are on the outskirts of Libtarded areas, so, with the influx of people leading to spread, those areas will be taken over by Libtards soon enough and housing prices are already reflecting this.

3. Lake County, Volusia County. Check around Ocala and Astor for rural living. Stay near Central FL (exception being Orlando metro) or the panhandle to avoid Libs.

4. Everyone here has a gun and carries. Don't bring any anti-2A sentiments or Mask Shaming around Florida Man.

5. Take one for the Florida Man Team and move to the Broward/Miami-Dade area to vote and offset their rigged elections.

6. Seriously, though, as a homeschool family and anti-vaxxer, you sound legit-not-a-D, so try Ocala, Lake County, or Volusia County. Florida is one of the most homeschool-friendly states in the country - minimal annual reporting only.

7. Hide any prescription pain meds.

8. No state income taxes. And we have beaches, Springs for those further inland, horse ranches, rodeos, golf, tennis, volleyball, surfing, paddleboarding, motorcyclists and Bike Week replete with no helmet laws (they can't even mandate motorcycle helmets, let alone masks. Florida Man will not comply with Tyranny and loves Freedom), boating, SCUBA diving, a short boat trip to the Bahamas, fresh seafood, great beef, Skydiving Capital of the World, gambling, fishing, hunting (including invasive Python hunting!), medical cannabis (soon to be fully decriminalized), legal Magic Mushroom gathering/possession (only illegal to sell it), local farmer's markets with raw milk for 'Animal Consumption Only,' manatees and sea turtle nests, Spanish Armada treasure that literally washes up on the beaches (Treasure Coast), rocket launches, an entire city dedicated to growing strawberries, Governor DeSantis, Trump at Mar-a-Lago, the #1 Main Street in the entire USA (<-- city where I live and recommend but like to keep it a secret), and periodic hurricanes to wash away the Yankee filth. This is just a hint of the Awesomeness that is Florida. The only thing I miss is the leaves changing in autumn.

Re: We're thinking about moving to Florida to enjoy less COVID restrictions, but don't know which cities are best? Suggestions from my GLP fami
I lived in Florida in the past OP.

I lived in a town called land o lakes which is north of Tampa. That is a good choice.

I would say any of the opposite sides, like north of Tampa, or East of the state at the same parallel are good. Melbourne Florida is also a good choice. It depends on what you like.

If you have kids perhaps Land of Lakes, Wesley chapel, Brandon, Zephyrhills. Nice neighborhoods without being overpriced, at last when I was there ... and clearwater and bush gardens are close.

Towards the east: Melbourne, Indian Harbor Beach which are close to Daytona and cocoa, to the north St Augustine.

Or cheaper places in the middle like Gainesville, and Ocala.

Good luck.

Areas near st Pete are very nice though. I live near St Pete.

I saw that you’re an “anarchist”. For the love of God vote for ron desantis in 2022 or you’re going to fuck us all and Covid restrictions WILL HAPPEN. Fuck politics I agree. Most politicians are stupid Nazi fuckers but here in Florida we have a great governor and he must stay our governor.

we get afternoon rains in the summer...and you will need an AC since you arent used to the heat.

you can garden year round here so you might want a little yard.

you dont want the cities but the outskirts maybe.
THE VILLAGES is all elderly, wealthier types so that might interest you as well.
its its own city and they dont like too many younger people owning properties there.they DO allow it but only minimally.

Stay away from the coasts for the most part, but there are good stretches between New Port Richey and the Big Bend.

Polk county has a sheriff that loves to lock people up,so I'm guessing it's safe there.

Knowing your trade,I would suggest Lakeland,Winter Haven,Crystal River,Cedar Key,or Ocala.
