Hinckley is pretty much a free man these days. Lives with his 90-something year old mama in a mcmansion in Virginia.

What's interesting is when you look at the timeline on when Reagan started talking about how fighting the drug war on the supply side was a losing proposition, and when he took a hard line on fighting it on the demand side, by implementing changes to law enforcement that would forever change the landscape of American culture.

I wonder if the attempt on his life helped shape Reagan's War on Drugs.

Years apart I remember watching to separate documentaries, years apart, on the TV about Hinkley and the man that killed John Lennon. I cannot think of the man's name that killed Lennon, but he was also an adopted child like Hinkley.
