Had that thing for 20 years and it was 7 years old when I bought it. Hit almost 300K when I sold it off as a taxi to be shipped to Africa. I hope someone finds the 20 Euros I forgot in the spare wheel hub! That thing could go on and on even with two spark plugs missing, and we drove it like that in the high Andes for over a week. All great truths begin as Blasphemies. G.B.S. Quoting: Fluffy Pancakes Just wondering what people think about their car purchases over the years. We need AWD or 4wd and prefer a SUV or something with a little carrying capacity. Subaru Baja? I dunno. So, for my part, I've had one year in which I owned 6 disposable cars. I wouldn't recommend any of those. It was not a good year. But my first car was in a 1972 Gremlin straight six three speed manual. I bought it in '86 and drove it for 3 years with duct tape holding the quarter panels together. And it was awesome until...It wasn't. Lol. It literally died in the parking lot of the bank when I was going for a loan on a different used car. Then the current Mazda Tribute '02. 6 cylinder again, just been an awesome car. Now computer is glitching and seems like it just keeps getting weekly issues. But it still never left me in the lurch. It's just getting kinda worn out now.My husband thinks the problem is the battery cable. Wth? I don't think so. But we can agree to disagree! So just looking for experiences. And the ageism is just because I'm old now! lol. If you stay alive, it happens. Wisconsin best car = Pretty much anything with AWD and no too high a center of gravity. As we aren't young, we don't want the headache of getting stuck on the road, and the costly fixes to repair older vehicles. We've just been there and done that way too many times. A thousand here another in a few months. No thanks. We're done. We also like to have the new technologies for safety reasons like lane guidance and auto braking. We are driving a Subaru Forester and really like it. Lease end coming soon so we will have to decide what will be our next vehicle. |

I've had very little issue with it. New plugs, wires, and a fuel pump at Christmas. The 5.3 in those things will go forever. Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet. I got into hot rodding because someone else was driving around the my local high school in a metallic grey one. I went over to Chev and stuffed a 350 into a 72 Vega with a 12 bolt, but I went with the automatic transmission with a B&M shifter. Between the two cars we had mad respect for each other. Bought it new and drove it until 275,000 miles. Our kids and our golden retriever used every inch of that thing. Best truck ever. Our kids learned how to drive in it too! I would get one again, but doesn't make sense now. |

Once you floored the gas pedal you KNEW that your head would be pushed back into the headrest within a minute or two. Plus, when taking out the three cylinder engine, it only takes three fingers, kinda like picking up a six pack of beer. JohnnyMullett, nice to see the old Metro drag races. I owned 2 sun fires , they were awesome cars and so good in the snow. Now I have a GMC Sierra, love my truck! Chev all the way! Not too expensive and never had any major problems with them. Word of advice never purchase the first line of a vehicle that is where you will run into problems, still working out the kinks! I always buy new and the last model! |

User ID: 77993004 United States 02/10/2021 09:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had a 1968 Dodge Charger RT that I drove 250,000 miles over ten years. I street raced it every chance I got, and rarely lost. When the peanut farmer moved into the White House and gas prices went through the roof, I detuned it and got over 20 mpg. I was very hard on the car, and thought it was only good for scrap when I finished with it. My brother disagreed, and restored the car. He would have been better off with just about any other '68 Charger, but he loved that one. It took him about 4 years to get it right, but it is once again beautiful. Quoting: beenthruthat I also loved My 1977 Mustang Cobra BLK/Gold 302 HO motor w 4 speed trans ... I had a '65. It was actually a panel truck, because it had no windows or doors on the sides. It was a notorious party wagon in SE Wyoming for years. It was paneled and carpeted in the back. Most weekends, it had a keg of beer behind the shotgun seat. It had chrome smoothies and 50 series tires, so it looked pretty good, but the action was inside. I had to hose out the insides every once in a while to get the smell of beer and sex out of it. With Goodyear GT radials it could really corner. It looked exactly like this one: [link to autopolis.wordpress.com (secure)] At the dealer I had them put in a moon roof before I pikced it up. Ran it 95,000 miles before buying a 1985 Chrylser LeBaron GTS Turbo, which was another great car. Had the AM stereo you could gt at the time. |

User ID: 77504359 United States 02/10/2021 09:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a 1981 honda accord hatchback in 1993 for $300. That little fucker lasted me until 1997 without a single repair, just some used tires here and there. Best little shitbox ever. The next was a Volkswagen Dasher diesel bought for $750 that was pretty sweet, too. Wrecked it, so no idea how long it would have lasted, but it was a good car. Other than that: Subaru all the way. I also owned a 2004 dodge ram 1500 quad cab with a Hemi that never gave me any trouble, but I don't like the big trucks.
