NWS Update pg 13 Who out there in glp land is getting hammered by this lastest winter storm doom? I'm in KY, right on the impact zone of what the forecasters and media are calling an emergency situation. We are expected up to 1" of ice thru tomorrow afternoon. Ppl around here have been in a state of near panic for the last 2 days in preparation for this "event" that was scheduled to kick in significantly last night. Well.....this morning we have nothing outside but a bit of sprinkles thru the early morning hours with temps above freezing (so far). The radar is showing a clearing but yet travel restrictions are planned for this afternoon and the alerts are still going out. We have been told that power outage are expected, and will last for several days. On top of that, the temps are supposed to drop down to near 0 by Sunday. It's scaring the old people and causing panic buying everywhere! So, my question is.... Who is getting hit by this "monster" winter storm because it's not us (so far)?

NWS Update pg 13 Coastal Carolina here. Been raining for a couple weeks. Temps warmed yesterday to 60's, but more rain coming. Construction workers and painters can't get dry days for work. In contrast to the storm area's, we are thankful for liquid rain, instead of snow and ice. Take good care and be safe! She's a multicolored lady. Angry red, passion blue, but mostly shades of green. NWS Update pg 13 Chicagoland area getting hit with sub zero temps and snow. We have about 17” of snow and supposed to get another 4-9” in in the next several days. Usually we have a few days of sub zero then some warming But this stretch of cold will last almost 2 weeks straight

Started out the same way.... little bit of rain... shit ton of snow then freezing rain on top! Took me nearly 20hrs to get from there to Johnson City TN, cuz I had to go thru Winchester first. His Oregon-based company doesn't seem to understand about men getting on roofs to install solar - the crew can take hours to get snow off the roof. Iowans are sure as hell NOT working on rooftops in Des Moines for the winter. Southern Oregon has gentle west coast weather.

But only dusting of it since. However, the cold is intense. I have lived here for a very long time. And i have NEVER known such intense cold. No one wants to go out side. I worked in oil and gas for 20+ years all over this Nation. Did the exact same thing one winter in SD outside of Sioux Falls. Our motto was, "We don't get rain outs or snowed in! We get rained and snowed on!" In other words... we work because that's where our job was-outside in the elements. Maybe I've grown soft over the last few years, because I don't agree with that motto any longer.... Remind him to be careful because you need him home at some point. That's what my wife used to say to me all the time and it caused me to use more caution in shitty conditions.....just sayin
