70s rock - the greatest band nobody ever heard of
Versions and clips of this performance have been on Youtube since the beginning. But in unwatchable, unlistenable SHITE quality.

Finally, a good version has been posted. A big THANK YOU to 67psych3. IDK how long TPTB will allow this good sound/video version to exist on YT. So get it while you can.

Track #1 is their signature song. The rest are just great bonuses.

Family - Doing Their Thing, TV show, Granada TV, Broadcast Sept 25 1970 ( Film - Best Sound Quality)

("Doing Their Thing" was a Friday tea-time Granada series of television studio performances by rock/pop bands in front of a small audience, each show was devoted to one act. The series was only broadcast in the North West region in the UK.)

Tracklist:

01-Good News/Bad News.
02-Drowned In Wine.
03-Processions/No Mules Fool.
04-Strange Band.
05-Holding The Compass.

Line-Up:

Roger Chapman - Lead Vocals/Percussion.
John "Charlie" Whitney - Guitars.
John "Poli" Palmer - Keyboards/Backing Vocals/Flute/Vibes.
John Weider - Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals/Guitars/violin.
Rob Townsend - Drums/Percussion.

Everyone thought they were rock stars. Which one are you OP?
At least you guys could play instruments, that’s a good thing.

The bass player was fantastic on bass. They're all fantastic musicians, really.

The lead singer, though.

On one hand, their songs couldn't be sung properly by anyone else but Chapman. But on the other hand, why did it have to be him?

The way I see it, if Ozzy was always able to control his excesses to a point that it never affected him giving a great show or taking his performances seriously, Chapman had no excuse.

And Gary Numan. Cars, great tune. Killing it that army of PolyMoogs.

that sounded like what the edgar winter band would have been had edgar not had albinism and therefore never learned to actually play any instruments.

I didn't realize John Wetton was a band member in later years. Chapman is quirky for sure but has excellent range and can sound very pleasing. Talented band, they were pushing boundaries.

IIRC Chapman was the vocalist on Mike Oldfield's Shadow On The Wall.

The Crises album I think.

I like it, but I'm into older stuff, so...

the best album from Areosmith is the first IMHO.

Same with all the 70's rock, the closer to 1980, the worse it got. MTV ruined classic rock, turned every band into a dance beat band.

ACDC died with Bon Scott.

Oh, and thanks.
