Her black magic marker makeup trying to make her look 100 years old, is about as bad as makeup can get, and her hair weave from The View, should have stayed out of view. There are other WAY more talented older black women needing a job, and who didn't need 5 minutes in the makeup chair with a black magic marker to make them look old, yet someone in casting or MARKETING thought she was the PERFECT WOKE CHOICE. If you could just replace Wookie with literally ANYONE, using CGI the reboot would be 1000 times better. Hell, Ellen Degenerate in black face would be an improvement over Wookie, as much as it pains me to point it out. |

Worth a watch. The climax is much, much better than either the book or the 1st miniseries. You miss Rob Lowe and Gary Sinise. Anonymous Coward User ID: 80040077 Germany 02/11/2021 08:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The original mini series was much better. They are constantly jumping back and forth in time for no apparent reason, which makes it hard to follow the plot, especially if you haven't seen the original or read the book. No proper character development and bad actors. Waste of time and money. ~450 reviews: [link to www.imdb.com (secure)] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75543000 United States 02/11/2021 09:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I watched it. Im assuming there's still 1 episode left but I cant imagine what it will cover. I could write a lot about it but Ill keep this brief. The most interesting thing about the concept is Randall Flagg (Spelling) and how people would follow a supernatural false God. The show could have been much better if this character was seriously creepy. He wasn't creepy or interesting. The only interesting and cool thing he does is float in penthouse as people worship him. You never really see any supernatural powers. He blows a door open and beats a guy to do death in a n elevator. In the 90s version he is more menacing. Here we get Eric from True Blood. Its worth watching but its kinda cheap and doesnt really offer much. Trashcan man performance was cringy but I give the actor credit for shooting for the moon. Again this was better in the 90s version. He blew up an entire city in the 90s. Here he blows up a couple tanks. MOON guy was better in this one. More realistic than the guy from Coach. |

Nick was terrible, Fran was equally as bad as Molly Ringwald but at least prettier, in a generic way there's like 12 actresses I thought she was before finding out she was none of them lol. Black Larry was a bump, at first (bumpety-bump) but it didn't matter much and the actor was solid (I can dig my man). Nadine was better than Just Shoot Me until they made her hair super glamorous lol. It was supposed to be SPOOKY not Vogue you idiots! ---- The real shining star of the whole production that makes it all worth watching is the performance and story of Harold Lauder. He really is a fully realized character with a stellar performance and sympathies you don't want to have and when he dies it's pathetic and moving at the same time. I will probably watch this again someday just to make that connection again. He was the strongest character in the show by far. It was like he knew he was fucked in Boulder as well as in Vegas, as much as he was in the old world. His part was very well done. I disliked the original Nadine too. Amber Turd was a little better but her character was a waste. Greg Kinear preachy pothead annoyed me. They tried to loosely tie Trumpers to the new Vegas, it was lame and probably missed by many "We're free here" and the rapist guy on the road. I like how they showed people with tube necks and made Cpt Tripps more visually horrible rather than a cold. If you like apocalyptic stuff you can d o a lot worse. |

Randall Flagg and his whole kingdom represent what Christianity looks like to non-Christians. It's no wonder that this board doesn't like the show. It's a rare look in the mirror to see what your reflection actually looks like to others. Sad, too, because truly waking up to the truth of you and God is a breath away if you can consider the perspective given by this show. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74251624 United States 02/11/2021 12:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It’s horrible. And homophobic and racist. Special affects remind me of the old haunted mansion ride. G-d is pretty much removed; no mother Abigail hymns, no G-d ‘s Tom. Trash is offensive because he doesn’t behave like a pyro. He behaves like an offensive misunderstanding of a person with muscular dystrophy and fetishes. Flagg is humorless and wooden. Other characters are forgettable. You can’t attach. Nick was poorly written and not really relatable. They rewrote Harold to be an angry incel not just a nerd who didn’t get it. Nadine’s snark is gone. You just don’t care. Heck Stu is not heroic or interesting. Nah. I was disappointed. |
