Dont tell anyone be quiet! This is why I'm stuck! I try to explain to people how this state has the most amazing weather, it's all four seasons yet it's mild compared to super cold places. Yes we got hit, there is 1 inch of solid ice on the ground in the middle of town. But it's 26 degrees, that's not abnormal for Mid TN in winter for a few days. I shake my head in gratitude everytime the rest of the country as well as the outer towns in TN who get hit much harder are buried in ice or having outages.

I live near two college campuses and a hospital that I presume have backup power and places the public could go to warm if we had to.

Weather like this is why I wouldn't live in the country without being 100% independant and off grid in the first place.

Dear Lord. My poor parents.

They are almost 80. I hope mom has a space heater. I forgot to ask her in the last email.

Think part of the reason is all the "electricity providers" that don't actually generate electricity but are simply brokers.

So I have contract at $.11 kw hr so they can't jack my rate up. But they are paying spot prices 20x that for the excess demand. So they are screwed with no way to pass that cost to customers, hence, shut off power and limit their losses.

Americans are pussys. Search worlds coldest plaecs to live, there's one place in Siberia this would be Summer weather. It takes two days down a remote road just to get there.

On another video of some other deathly cold place in China I can't find yet, they keep the temp at around 38 degrees, that's inside. Outside is about 40 below, on a nice day.

And, they have to go out side to do the deed, in an old outhouse.

Millions of people worldwide live with year round cold most of us couldn't survive two days. They key is layers, Americans are such idiots and want to wander around the house in a single thin layer then wonder why they are cold. If you have enough on you can survive outside with no heat at all.

Well thanks. Actually we have Appalachia. About 2 million impoverished people, many live without power year round as well, and no runing water, sometimes no well water either. Plus they would be to dumb to melt the snow, due to lack of education.

The people in Siberia and China have water. Just sayin...

If you can see this clip, Doggo in snow like Hot Springs, Arkansas hasn't seen in... well, I've lived here eight years, and most years we don't get snow at all. Rocco, the Doggo basically says "You, First," though he was running around in it in Iowa well enough a few weeks ago.

Northwest Fort Worth here. No power since 2AM. Really interested to see how this plays out with the outages. Physically and mentally I can endure, but we’re in for it. This weather doesn’t let up until Friday.

A tip for those without power . If its cold in your place . I used to have to do this when I lived without power years ago . Take clothes and put them between blankets on the bed as many as possible . Get in the bed with your clothes on to warm the bed then take your clothes off . You will need to up your calories , peanut butter , butter , etc. Keep your head and hands covered . Bless the people in Texas and elsewhere affected by this .Remember Spring will be here in a few weeks. I do hope people there and elsewhere will prep for the coming years as this may become the norm as we start to experience the Solar Min. God Bless those in need . Central N.C. here ...

What’s wrong with This? Here’s a poster not doing the ha ha you didn’t prep routine. Here’s a poster that has empathy because they realized that not every Texan is a prepper. And this poster also offered great advice on dealing with the situation. AC should become a member.

Denton county here.
Power went out at 2:00am and came back on at 3am. Went out again at 4:30am till 8:00 and stayed on almost an hour. Went out again at 9. On again at 10. My main problems are outside and there’s nothing I can do about them as power is my only answer and it’s 50/50. Coserv is saying the exact same thing.

This:
EMERGENCY UPDATE: Due to the severity of the electric generation shortfall, our expected outage length of 15 to 45 minutes has been significantly extended. Outages due to this electric emergency could last for hours and we ask you to be prepared. In addition, we are responding to separate outages caused by the record-breaking winter storm that continues to impact our entire service territory. We are doing everything possible to respond to each of these power emergency events. We remain in close coordination with ERCOT and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we do all we can to protect the integrity of the Texas grid.

Turns out almost 50% of the wind generation is frozen now. The other half is at capacity. Although more snow is coming Wednesday, it’ll still be freezing just not single digits and that’ll be much better than a night of 3 degrees.
