So glad to hear OP that your son is going to be okay, but am super sorry to see all the hell you were put through by other GLPer's, especially the AC's. Try to let it go. I've been there with a thread I did 2 years ago over my daughter getting stabbed, so I know how brutal it can be. Keep your chin up and know that the good portion of GLP is good!

Oh yeah, on the car itself....it will probably be a total loss. If so he will basically be in a position of trying to "Sell" his car to the insurance company. I say this because they will make an offer. That offer may be just right or it may be too low. Think of it just as you would in any other situation when you are trying to sell a car. You want the most for your baby and the people buying it want to pay as little as they have to when one important caveat. The insurance company by law and contract owe you the ACV of his car at the time of the loss.

You guys will want to do some research BEFORE you get the call from the claims adjuster.

What you want to do is find what the industry refers to as "comparables". This simply means their offer should (by law) reflect as close to the true value of his car when compared with others available for sale with similar equipment, mileage and condition.

You won't know if what they offer is too low unless you first do a little "Shopping" on your own.

Keep in mind, IF their initial offer is too low that is not the end of it but you will be in a much better position if you already have your own "comparables" list to keep them honest.

If you don't believe their offer is the correct amount ASK to see their "Comparables"! The moment you use that word they will instantly know you will hold them to being honest. Again, with most companies and adjusters this shouldn't be a problem but just be prepared in case you have an inept claims adjuster..they are out there.
