The first post of this thread should have been acted on immediately, because if your "uncontrolled shivering" suddenly stops, that in itself is a rea;;y bad sign. Reminds me of the Jack London book, To Build A Fire, if anyone needs a frame of reference. Some of my experience comes from camping on the snow, with a group of people on an expedition through the Wind River mountains in Wyoming, then later when the only housing I could find was living in a 1985 Dodge station wagon, for two years in southeastern Ohio. Having your bedroll on a sheet of foil faced foam makes a big difference. There are things you can do, such as rinse out your woolen socks, then lay them directly on your belly before going to bed, provided that where you are sleeping is rated for the temperatures and conditions you find yourself in. They will be dry by morning. “Queen Sarah, save us from the Black Dog King!” - from the play, Dissocia [link to tasaonline.org.au (secure)] "Never be anyone's French poodle." - Mr Hamilton |

If he was shivering uncontrollably, he wouldn't be able to type on a phone screen. |

There are quite a few people that did indeed freeze to death. And I think the counting is not over yet. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 02/20/2021 07:29 AM Justme |

I think the moderators have access to their IP address and such. Regarding the typing, I disagree. You can type with frostbitten fingers, and shivering uncontrollably. I've done it. They might have been using a laptop. Not everyone has emergency candles on hand. I do, but finding them is another matter. When you're that cold, your mind is not all that sharp. Your response suggests that I don't think you've ever been in that sort of situation before. What I know of it is that you may not think logically. Sometimes the obvious advice is not followed, Do you know for a fact that they had a car? I thought we were assuming that he had a car, The bottom line is that we believe that others were going through this situation, who may not have had a voice. For all we know you could be the OP appearing on a different device with a different IP address. If they were trolling to gain sympathy, then they will have to deal with the associated life's karma.
